Ans offers several options to make your digital test more secure, including specific accessibility permissions and several integrations, including proctoring integrations and lockdown browsers.
Accessibility permissions to help secure a digital test
-
Access code
Require participants to fill in an access code in order to access the test. Digital tests with an access code can only be unlocked 15 minutes before the start of the test. Please note that the student cannot actually click on the start button until the starting time. If this access code is changed during a live test, students that are already in the test will be able to continue.
-
Restricted access to other pages
When setting up the accessibility settings for a digital test, you have the option to restrict access to other pages. Participants cannot open any other assignments within Ans while taking this test.
-
Restrict assignment access locations
If you require your students to take an exam from a specified location, such as an examination hall at your school, you can enable this option and select one or multiple locations. This means participants can only access the test from the specified IP address. Please note, that access locations can only be added by administrators. Instructors can select existing access locations.
To enable one of the options mentioned above, follow the steps below.
- Click the domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click label_important Courses in the menu at the top.
- Select your course or use the search bar.
- Select your assignment or use the search bar.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- Click Accessibility in the menu on the left.
You will then see the options that are available. You can read more on the other available accessibility settings in this article.
Integrations to help secure a digital test
-
Proctorio
The Proctorio integration records both the student and the student's screen during the taking session of the digital test. When Proctorio is enabled, you will also be notified if any other web pages were accessed during the test. Please keep in mind that a licence is needed for the Proctorio integration and that Proctorio can only be launched one hour before the start of the assignment.
-
ProctorExam
Similar to the Proctorio integration, the ProctorExam integration also helps to proctor digital tests within Ans. A licence is needed for the ProctorExam integration.
-
Safe Exam Browser
The Safe Exam Browser is a web browser environment that allows digital tests carried out safely. The Safe Exam Browser software turns any computer temporarily into a secure workstation. It controls and restricts access to system functions, other websites and applications and prevents unauthorised resources from being used during an exam.
-
Schoolyear
The Schoolyear integration is a secure testing environment for students. By enabling the integration with Schoolyear, the testing environment for students on private laptops (Bring Your Own Device) will be secured. Schoolyear temporarily locks the students' screens to prevent student access to other documents and applications during the digital test.
The available integrations depend on what your school has configured at school level.
To check which integrations are available for your digital test, follow the steps below.
- Click the domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click label_important Courses in the menu at the top.
- Select your course or use the search bar.
- Select your assignment or use the search bar.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- Click Integrations in the menu on the left.
You will then see the options that are available.
Proctoring settings
Ans also has proctoring settings that can be enabled. These settings can report tab exiting and copy-pasting content in an assignment. Read more on adding proctoring settings to your digital test here.
