Changes to the platform
Added a question quality overview to assignment insights
The assignment insights overview now includes a graph of question quality based on question statistics (P-value and Rit-value). Contributing questions are placed into four regions: easy, difficult, needs attention, and good, providing a clear overview of how the questions performed.
Regions with questions link to the assignment insights questions page, already filtered by that quality.
CLOSED BETA - Grading filter
A new way to filter results directly from the grading screen has been added. A new icon in the grading navigation bar opens a side panel called Filter results, allowing reviewers to refine which answers they want to see.
Applying filters
In the side panel, all questions with criteria are listed vertically along with their available options. Each criterion has two toggle buttons:
- Checkmark - include results where this criterion is selected
- Block - include results where this criterion is not selected
Navigating to matching results
After filters are applied, the number of matching results is displayed. Clicking Filter X Results navigates to the first match, and the remaining matches can be browsed using the standard navigation buttons.
Clearing filters
The view can easily be reset by clicking Clear filters in the side-panel.
This feature is currently in closed beta. Administrators can contact our support team to request to have this feature enabled.
Added an indication of the status of each flow section in the side panel
To more clearly communicate the status of flow sections, the side panel now highlights any section that causes an issue in red.
Users will now receive a notification when their background job is completed
The process for importing or exporting certain information from within the platform runs in the background. Users can view the status of the background job in their settings. To make this more intuitive, users will now receive a notification when the background job is complete, including the status of the job.
Updated the Respondus import template
The Respondus import template file has been updated to better explain how to specify the correct answers.
Updated Safe Exam Browser URLs to the latest version
Safe Exam Browser has released a new version for Windows and macOS that fixes the drag-and-drop issue present in the previous version. The download URLs have been updated to download version 3.10 for Windows and version 3.6 for macOS.
The full release notes of version 3.10 for Windows can be found here. The full release notes for version 3.6 for macOS can be found here. Please be aware that there is an incompatibility between version 3.5 and 3.6 in the config:
IMPORTANT: If you created or opened and saved configuration files with SEB 3.5 (macOS or iOS), then you should remove the AppleSpell process from those settings (SEB Settings / Applications / Prohibited Processes) in SEB 3.5.4 and re-save that config file. Otherwise a lag when entering text could be observed on some macOS versions.
The school review options page layout has been updated
The school review options page layout has been updated. Previously, changes to the mark calculation fields had to be saved separately. Now, all changes can be saved at once, reducing clicks. Other settings have also been reorganised and updated to match the latest platform styling.
Improved the assignment mark calculation settings page
The assignment mark calculation page layout has been updated. Instead of using a dropdown to change the mark calculation type, each type now has its own button for quicker access. Formula-type fields are grouped in a container to make it clear they need to be saved with the button. Other settings have also been updated to match the latest platform styling.
Simplified the communication settings
We have removed the email preferences for "New functionality updates in Ans" and "Updates relevant for administrator users" from the Communications tab. Employees are already subscribed to release updates by default, and users promoted to the department administrator role are automatically subscribed to administrator updates. It will still be possible to unsubscribe from emails via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.
If users who currently don’t have these preferences enabled later decide they want to receive emails, they can either send a request to our support team or enable the settings before October 12, 2025.
Improved tracking of external user logins
Administrators can now view the login activity of external users. When a user accesses an account by switching from another account, it is displayed in the login history tab.
Added group changes to course log
The course log now contains group creations, changes and deletions. The "name", "learners can leave a group" and "This group can start or hand in a group assignment" changes are shown in the log. Changes to group members are not shown in the log.
Added a PDF preview for written question bank assignments
It is now possible to preview a written assignment from a question bank assignment. Previously, to view a representative preview when building a written assignment from within a question bank, it would be required to copy the assignment to a course, and copy it again to see any changes. To simplify this we have added a pdf preview, similar to the one used for written assignments within a course.
Clearer overview of scanned assignments
During busy exam periods, schools often upload multiple batches of written assignments. On the scan overview, it was difficult to see which assignments were already complete, which still needed uploads, or which required issues to be solved. Exporting scans also took extra effort, since files had to be located and exported one by one.
Now, scans are grouped by assignment. Each assignment shows both the per-file numbers of scans and results, as well as the total across the assignment. Completed assignments are collapsed with a check mark. Assignments that are still in progress or require action to resolve issues remain open. The overview is ordered chronologically by the most recent upload.
Exporting is now available at the assignment level, making it straightforward to export all processed files for an assignment at once.
Collapse identified pages when solving missing pages
When a form is incomplete, missing pages must be identified and completed, either by confirming suggested pages or inserting new ones. In a form with many pages, this can be difficult, especially when a missing page is near the end. Previously, all pages were shown, requiring scrolling to find the missing pages.
The display now shows only the pages around the missing ones. This provides context without displaying the entire form. Other pages are collapsed into stacks that can be expanded if needed. The change reduces clutter and makes it easier to complete forms efficiently.
Bug fixes
-
Fixed an issue where the tag filter was not shown as active when transitioning from the blueprint overview to the exercises overview
Previously, when viewing the filtered exercises from a blueprint section, the tag filter on the question bank exercise overview would not be shown as active. Now, the tag filter is shown correctly.
-
Clearer preview interaction for question bank exercises
Users can now more easily discover that question bank exercises are previewable by clicking on their row in the overview. To reinforce this interaction, the mouse cursor now changes to a zoom-in icon when hovering over an exercise row.
-
Fixed an issue where the width of the columns containing the answer fields would accommodate the longest possible answer
Previously, the columns in a table answer field would accommodate the longest possible answer which would make the table stretch. Now we have limited the witdh of the fill dropdown to be a maximum of 25 characters, to prevent stretched tables.
-
Disabled rendering of LaTeX between backticks
As a result of migrating from KaTeX to MathLive, MathLive treated text between backticks as LaTeX, which caused incorrect parsing. We have now disabled rendering of LaTeX between backticks to prevent such parsing errors.
-
Fixed an issue where removed users were still visible on the Taking page of an assignment
Previously, removed users were still visible in the invigilators and instructors lists on the Taking page as the 'Deleted employee' placeholder. Now, removed users are hidden from this overview.
-
Fixed an issue where clicking on a group via the time slot settings in an assignment would display an error
Previously, attempting to navigate to a group via the timeslot tab in an assignment would display a "the page you are looking for doesn't exist" error. Now, clicking on a group will correctly direct you to it.
-
Added an explanation on how to use the code editor to generate random variables
The code editor now displays a description explaining that Python and the provided random function must be used to generate variables for exercises.
-
Clarified that the tabs options depend on the first fullscreen option in the Proctorio settings
In the Proctorio settings on assignment level, a yellow banner has been introduced to inform instructors that tab options are unavailable when fullscreen mode is enabled. This banner appears above the "Tabs options" section whenever the second, third, or fourth "Fullscreen option" is selected. In addition, the "Tabs options" will be automatically greyed out to reflect their disabled state.
-
Fixed an issue where the exported points value did not have the same rounding as the shown value
Previously, the points value of an exported result would give the exact internal value, which did not match the rounded value displayed in the results overview. Now, the same rounding is applied when exporting the results, meaning the values in the export and results overview match.
-
Fixed an issue where custom roles allowed moving question bank assignments without the "edit" permission
Previously, within custom roles, users could move a question bank assignment even when the “Edit question bank assignments” permission was disabled. Now, moving a question bank assignment correctly requires this permission.
-
Fixed an issue where .html was added to the URL after resolving scan issues, causing the search to break
Previously, after resolving a scan issue, users were redirected back to the Print & scan overview. However, the URL changed, causing the search to no longer function. Now, the URL remains correct, and the search functionality works as intended.
-
Fixed an issue where file uploads in the preview of a digital test were always uploaded to the first file upload question
Previously, when a digital test had multiple file upload questions, uploading a file in the editor’s right‑side preview always attached it to the first file upload question. Now, uploading a file in the right‑side preview attaches it to the file upload question you have selected.
