Bug fixes

Fixed an issue where exercises added to a section were placed at the end of the test
Previously, adding exercises through "Add exercises" with a section selected put them in that section in the Table of contents panel, but at the end of the exercise list in the Editor panel. In digital tests and written assignments with several sections, the exercise list in the Editor then no longer matched the order students saw. Students see exercises section by section as indicated in the Table of contents panel.Exercises added through "Add exercises" now go at the end of the selected section. When you add more than one, they keep the order you selected them in. Exercises that were already out of place are not moved. In an assignment that has not been taken yet, you will need to move them to a different position and then back in the sections overview for it to appear correct in the editor view.
-
Fixed an issue where changes to multiple choice and match exercises were not saved to the question bank
Previously, adding an exercise from the question bank to an assignment could link several answer options to the same answer option in the question bank. This happened when answer options had the same content, for example placeholder options with the same text, or match cells with the same points. Clicking "Save this newer version to the question bank" then showed a success message. The question bank exercise lost the unlinked answer options, and the exercise stayed out of sync. Each answer option in an exercise is now linked to its own answer option in the question bank. Saving an exercise that was linked incorrectly adds the missing answer options to the question bank.
-
Fixed an issue where the live session timer overstated the remaining time by rounding up to whole hours
Previously, the time left on a live session on the Taking page was rounded up to the next whole hour when three or more hours remained. A student with 3 hours and 15 minutes left was shown as having "4 hr left".While an assignment is in progress, the time left now shows hours and minutes, for example "3 hr 15 min left". This applies to the timeslots on the Taking page and the student's schedule. A countdown just under a whole hour now shows "3 hr" instead of "2 hr 60 min".
The time until an assignment starts is still rounded to whole hours from three hours onwards.
-
Fixed an issue where Safe Exam Browser reported an incorrect configuration while moving between exercises
Previously, students taking a digital test in Safe Exam Browser could be sent to the "Incorrect configuration detected" page right after entering the access code, or after clicking "Next exercise", "Previous exercise" or "Submit and continue". Starting the digital test again did not stop it from happening on a later exercise.Every page in Safe Exam Browser now opens as a full page load, and the configuration check passes on each exercise.
-
Fixed an issue where Proctorio live proctoring could not load the candidate list
Previously, clicking "Open live proctoring" in the taking session dialog opened the Proctorio live proctoring dashboard, but the dashboard showed "Roster was not successfully loaded" and no candidate video appeared. The dashboard now loads the candidate list from Ans and shows each candidate's live video. If the school has turned on showing student numbers in its Proctorio settings, each candidate is listed by name and student number. The candidate list in the Proctorio Review Center loads the same way.
The candidate list only loads for the invigilator or teacher who opened Proctorio, and only while they still have access to the digital test. The link Proctorio uses to fetch the list stops working after one hour.
-
Fixed an issue where scans did not load when resolving scan problems
Since the release of October 18, the scan image stayed empty on the "Unknown student number" page. Without the scan, you could not read the student number or name to fix the problem. The scan now loads again. The same issue affected the scan on the "Incomplete form" page, the page search on that page, "Change ownership of result", "Verify enrollment", and the image preview of attachments. These now load as well.
-
Fixed an issue where the slider was not shown when grading a question that still had criteria groups
Previously, when the scoring method of a question was changed from "Criteria" or "Rubric" to "Slider", its criteria groups stayed on the question. Opening a submission in grading then showed the grading scheme with criteria instead of the slider, so the question could not be graded with the slider.Questions with the scoring method "Slider" are now always graded with the slider. The criteria groups are kept; changing the scoring method back to "Criteria" or "Rubric" shows them again.
-
Fixed an issue where the unsaved changes warning did not close after clicking "Leave page"
Previously, after adding or removing an alternative, area, statement or criterion in a question, the unsaved changes warning appeared when leaving the page, but clicking "Leave page" did not close it. The screen became darker with each click until "Stay on page" was clicked.Clicking "Leave page" now closes the warning and opens the page you navigated to, without saving the changes. This applies to every question type with the warning, on both the Exercises and Grading scheme pages.
-
Fixed an issue where an outage at Schoolyear slowed down the platform
Previously, every page of a digital test secured with Schoolyear waited for Schoolyear to confirm the session, with no time limit. During the Schoolyear outage on October 21st, Schoolyear took around 6 seconds to answer each request. More than 1,000 of these requests per minute occupied the capacity of the platform, and pages took around 17 seconds to load for all users. A full postmortem for this incident can be found here.Ans now waits at most 5 seconds for an answer from Schoolyear. After 5 failed requests to Schoolyear within 30 seconds, Ans stops contacting Schoolyear for the rest of those 30 seconds. Other integrations, such as Turnitin, Proctorio, ProctorExam and LTI, stop being contacted the same way when their service times out or is unavailable.
While Schoolyear is unavailable, students in a digital test secured with Schoolyear are still redirected out of the test with the message "Please restart the Schoolyear session to resume the assignment".

Fixed an issue where peer review marks were not sent to the LMS when a peer had not finished reviewing the participant's original submission
Previously, no mark was sent when a peer had not finished reviewing the participant's original submission, even when the other peer reviews were already complete. When Send marks to LMS is on for a peer review digital test, the LMS now receives the participant's average peer grade as soon as it changes. The mark is sent as final once the participant has the number of graded peer reviews set for the digital test. Until then, it is sent as pending. When the last peer review is graded, the mark is sent again as final, even if the average peer grade stays the same.
