Review unanswered and bookmarked questions before submitting a digital test
Previously, the submit page displayed a warning when there were unanswered questions. The warning only showed the number of unanswered questions. The page also displayed the assignment name, course name, and the date and time the exam was taken.
The submit page has now been updated to make it clearer and easier to review your answers before submitting.
The page now displays the question “Submit your answers?” with two options: “Keep working” and “Submit”. The “Submit” button is only available after you check the box confirming that you understand you cannot change your answers after submitting. Selecting “Keep working” returns you to the assignment.
If there are unanswered questions, a banner is displayed at the top of the page. The banner shows each unanswered question and its corresponding question number. Selecting a question number takes you directly to that question.
Questions that only become available after completing a specific section or question are not included in this banner if they have not been answered.
Bookmarked questions are shown in a separate banner. You can select a question that is bookmarked in the banner to navigate directly to it. Questions that were previously marked as “flagged” are now referred to as “bookmarked”.
The banners are hidden when there are no unanswered or bookmarked questions.
Explore mark calculation settings before applying them
Previously, the mark calculation page used several different saving patterns. Some changes were applied immediately, while others had to be explicitly saved. This made it harder to explore the available calculation methods.
Now, all mark calculation settings are grouped in a single container and remain as a draft until Update is pressed. Selecting a method shows its configuration without affecting the results. Draft input is preserved when switching between modes, making it safe to explore, compare, and refine the setup.
Formula now combines the formula, marks, rounding, and guess correction in a single draft.
Table has been replaced with an inline editor for adding, editing, and removing score-mark rows. Pass mark can now be changed directly in the field above the table. Empty rows are ignored, while incomplete rows, duplicate points or marks, and invalid values are highlighted and prevent saving. Content copied from an external table can be pasted directly into the new table. Export has been removed.
API tokens can be managed from the school settings
Previously, an API token was only visible to the employee who created it.
The "API" page in the school settings now has an "Issued tokens" row showing how many tokens the school holds. Clicking it opens a table of every token, with its name, who created it, its IP restriction, when it was created, when it was last used, and its status. The filter filters by token name or by the name of the employee who created it, and a status filter narrows the list to active or inactive tokens. The options menu on each row has "Revoke", which stops the token working immediately and cannot be undone.
Schools with the Campus plan can also decide who may create tokens. The "API token creation" setting offers "Every employee" or "Only after approval". With "Only after approval", a token an employee creates does not work until an administrator approves it. It shows as "Awaiting approval" on the employee's own settings page and as "Requires approval" in the school's token table, where the options menu has an "Approve" action. A "Requires approval" filter appears while any token is waiting. Schools without Campus see a link to the pricing page, and every token there works as soon as it is created.
Try the new way of publishing results from the results page
The results page has a "Try the new way of publishing results" toggle above the "Publish" button. With the toggle on, clicking "Publish" opens a "New publication" dialog instead of the publication timeslot form. Clicking "Switch back to the previous way of publishing" brings back the publication timeslot form. The toggle is personal and only affects your own account.
The dialog sets when, for whom, and what is published:
- "When?": choose "Specific day" with a date, start time, and end time, or "Date range" with a start and end date and time.
- "Who?": choose "All learners" or "Specific learners, groups or classes".
- "Mark": choose "Numeric", "Letter", or "Numeric and letter".
- "Exercises": choose "No exercises", "All exercises", "Incorrectly answered exercises", or "Specific exercises or sections".
- "Locations": choose "Anywhere" or "Specific locations". Learners can only open their result from the selected locations. This section only appears if the school has locations.
- "Discussions" and "Objectives": checkboxes that control whether learners can start discussions and see objectives.
Each publication appears at the top of the results page with its date and time, locations, and learners. Ended publications are crossed out. Click "Edit" to change a publication. The options menu has "Delete" and "Require access code". An assignment can have several publications, for example one per group or one per time window.
The toggle only appears on assignments that have no publications yet. An assignment that already has publication timeslots keeps publishing the previous way. An assignment that has a publication made the new way keeps publishing the new way, and its "Publication" settings page is no longer available. With the toggle on, the "Publication" settings page is only available for assignments that already have publication timeslots.
Publication timeslots now always need an end date
Previously, a publication timeslot could be set to publish "Directly", which left it open ended with no end date.
The availability section of a publication timeslot now always shows a start and an end date picker, and both are required. The end date must be before the start of the 2027 school year, which follows the school year start month of your school. The publication page shows a warning naming that date and links to the results page, which is where results are published from after it.
Timeslots without an end date, and timeslots ending on or after that date, have been given it as their end date. Where discussions would have run past it, asking questions has been switched off for that timeslot.
The new home page is out of preview
Previously, the new home page was a preview. A "Try the new home page experience" button switched between it and the old one.
The new home page is now the only home page. On the left it lists your pinned assignments, courses and question banks. On the right it shows your account and setup progress, quick actions for creating an assignment, printing exams and uploading scanned files, and below those your recent drafts, your schedule for the next two weeks, and the assignments taken in the last 30 days.
The new grading experience is out of preview
Grading with a grading scheme happens in one panel beside the answer. Each criterion is a row: click it to award or withdraw the points, or press the number shown on its left. Criteria that belong to a criteria group are listed under that group's name. Shift+C collapses and expands the criteria descriptions, and the fullscreen button at the top opens the grading scheme for every question at once.
Under the criteria you can add a new criterion, mark 'None of the above' on points questions, and add or remove point adjustments. The panel names who graded the answer and when, and marks each criterion that was awarded or withdrawn after a discussion.
Appraisal forms use the same panel, with every question of a result on one scrollable page and a numbered navigation on the left that jumps between them.
The scoring methods 'Points' and 'Rubric', and the question types 'Numerical value' and 'Comprehensive Integrated Puzzle' now always use this experience, and the link for switching back to the previous one has been removed. Other automatically scored question types are graded exactly as before.
Comment on "None of the above" the same way as on any criterium
Previously, comments could not be added to "None of the above" in the new grading experience.
You can now add regular comments to "None of the above". Open the menu next to it and choose Add comment, or use the Add comment action on the row. You can add multiple comments and edit or delete each one from its own menu.
Comments already written on other submissions for the same question appear under Previous comments, so you can reuse one with a single click.
"None of the above" is now available on rubric questions
Previously, "None of the above" only appeared on questions graded with the scoring method 'Criteria'. For rubric-graded questions, reviewers could award 0 points by manually adding a criterion worth 0 points, but there was no dedicated option to indicate that an answer earns nothing.
"None of the above" now appears on every question graded with criteria or a rubric. Selecting it sets the score to 0 and counts the answer as graded, so it no longer stays in the list of answers still to be graded.
Past adjustments are now sorted by frequency of use
Previously, the “Past adjustments” list under a grading adjustment showed the most recently created adjustments for that question.
The “Past adjustments” list now displays adjustments based on how frequently they have been used for the specific question. The most frequently used adjustment is shown at the top of the list. If multiple adjustments have been used the same number of times, they are sorted with the most recently added adjustment first.
Adjustments that have already been applied to the submission you are grading are still excluded from the “Past adjustments” list.
Added support for Rust in code blocks and code editor questions
The language dropdown for code blocks and code editor questions now includes "Rust". Code in the editor gets Rust highlighting: keywords, types, strings, and comments.
Improved the Proctorio integration settings
The Proctorio settings of a digital test are now split into four sections: "Recording", "Access to other webpages", "Block during the attempt" and "Tools".
Previously, "Fullscreen mode" and tabs were two separate settings, and fullscreen overrode the tabs setting without saying so. "Access to other webpages" now replaces both with one choice: - "Allowed" - "Only through links inside the page" - "No new tabs or windows" - "Not allowed, ends the attempt after 15 seconds"
The 30-second tolerance and the option that ends the attempt immediately are gone. Digital tests that used either of them now use the 15-second tolerance.
Some settings are no longer asked separately and follow from other choices: - If new tabs or windows are restricted, participants must close their other tabs and windows before they start. - If access to other webpages is not allowed, participants must disconnect a second screen before they start. - "Room scan" and "Photo ID" need the webcam. Turning either one on also turns on "Video from the webcam". Turning off "Video from the webcam" turns them off. - Temporary files are always removed from the participant's computer when the attempt ends.
The signed agreement option has been removed. Please use the integrity consent option in the digital test settings instead.
Added support for Proctorio live proctoring
The Proctorio integration now supports live proctoring. When live proctoring is enabled in an assignment's integration settings, Proctorio Live can be opened from the taking page by selecting a participant's name and then selecting the Proctorio Live proctor link.
Schoolyear sessions now automatically restrict access to other pages
Previously, "Restricted access to other pages in ans" had to be enabled separately for a digital test taken in the Schoolyear browser.
A Schoolyear session is now limited to the assignment it was started for, whether it was started to take a digital test or to view published results. Opening any other page returns the participant to the start page of their Schoolyear session.
School years in the year filters are shown as "26/27"
The year filters on the course and assignment lists now show a school year as "26/27" instead of "2026 / 2027". This keeps the filter button narrow enough to fit in the list toolbar.
Webhooks can be set up for an entire school
Previously, every webhook belonged to the person who created it and only delivered the events that person was allowed to see. A webhook stopped being useful once its owner lost access to a course or left the school.
Administrators can now create webhooks from the API page in the school settings. These webhooks belong to the school rather than to a person, and receive every event in the school regardless of which person triggered it.
The form is the same one used for personal webhooks: set the endpoint URL, the subscriptions, and the API version. Each webhook has its own signing secret and its own event log, and individual events can be redelivered from that log. A school can have up to ten school-wide webhooks, counted separately from the personal webhooks its members create.
Create and manage school webhooks through the API
Previously, the API could only create personal webhooks, which receive only the events their employee is allowed to see. The beta API now also creates school webhooks, which receive every subscribed event in the school.
School administrators can create a school webhook through the beta API by providing a URL, subscriptions and an optional enabled setting. The response includes the webhook's secret, which is shown only once. School webhooks created through the API send beta payloads. School administrators can also retrieve a list of the school's school webhooks. This list does not include employees' personal webhooks.
School administrators can use the beta API to view, disable, re-enable and delete school webhooks, including ones created on the API page in the school settings. School webhooks created through the API appear on that page.
The URL and subscriptions cannot be changed after creation. To change them, delete the webhook and create a new one. A school has at most 10 school webhooks. Personal webhooks and the v2 API work as before.
Improved the readability of the mark distribution
Changes have been made to the “How did participants perform” section in the Insights overview for each assignment to improve readability.
Previously, the mark scale was always divided into ten intervals. This could result in intervals that did not align with the grading scheme. For example, marks between 1.2 and 1.8 could be grouped and represented by a single bar in the chart.
The bar chart now divides the mark scale into rounded intervals, with a maximum of twenty intervals. The intervals are based on the mark rounding used for the assignment, making the distribution more consistent with the grading scheme.
A dashed line in the chart indicates the mark required to pass, with a label showing the required passing mark. Each bar shows the number of learners whose mark falls within that category. Bars representing marks below the passing mark are displayed in red, while bars representing passing marks are displayed in green.
As before, assignments that do not award marks use points on the horizontal axis instead of marks.
When participants have multiple attempts, the attempt with the highest mark is now used in the Insights overview. If a participant has multiple attempts with the same mark, the attempt with the highest score is used. Previously, the attempt with the highest score was used regardless of the mark.
When there are no results to display, the section now shows “There are no results to show”. Previously, the chart would disappear from the Insights page when there were no results.
Duration is now shown as a distribution
Previously, the duration graph plotted one column per participant with the participant labels hidden. A column's neighbour meant nothing, so the graph could not answer the question teachers have: did most participants finish in a similar time, and were there unusually fast or slow attempts?
For digital tests, "How much time did participants take?" now shows how long participants took to submit as a histogram, in five-minute intervals. Each bar's height is the number of participants who submitted within that interval, printed above it. Bars grouped together mean most participants finished within a similar time, and a detached group or a long tail is the set of attempts worth investigating. Hovering a bar shows its interval and how many participants fall in it.
Results that took four hours or longer are left out, so a single abandoned attempt cannot flatten the rest of the chart. The chart counts every submitted result, including results that are not yet graded, so it is available before grading is finished.
Removed the "Points" chart and the summary values from assignment insights
Previously, the overview page in assignment insights had a "Points" chart with one column per participant, sorted by points scored. The "Points", "Marks" and "Duration" charts each showed the minimum, maximum, average and median above the chart.
The "Points" chart and the summary values are removed. The "How did participants perform?" chart replaces the "Marks" chart. It shows how many participants fall into each interval, and each bar shows that number above it. Hovering a bar shows the interval and the number of participants.
For assignments that award marks, the chart shows the marks along the mark scale. Bars are coloured by whether those participants passed or failed, and a dashed "Pass from" line marks the mark needed to pass. These assignments no longer have a chart for points.
For assignments with the mark calculation type "None", the chart shows the points scored from 0 to the maximum points, in intervals of at least 1 point. These bars have one colour and there is no pass line. If guess correction is turned on, the chart uses the points after guess correction.
The "Metrics" section has not changed. It shows the number of results, the pass rate, reliability (KR20 / α), standard deviation and standard measurement error. Standard deviation and standard measurement error are in points. Pass rate is not shown when the mark calculation type is "None", and reliability is not shown for randomly generated assignments.
Sorting on the results overview moved to a sort menu
Previously, the results overview was sorted by clicking a column header, and opened sorted by points.
A "Sort by" menu is now available above the results table, next to the search bar and filters. Choose to sort alphabetically A-Z, by points, by last submitted, or by significance. The overview opens sorted alphabetically. Points, last submitted, and significance sort from high to low, and results without a value are placed at the end.
"Points" only appears if you are an instructor in the course. "Significance" only appears when the assignment has a plagiarism check.
The menu is limited to these four orders, and the column headers are no longer clickable. Sorting by marks, letter grades, reliability, progress, review consensus, and average certainty has been removed, as these orders were rarely used and made the table header harder to read.
[Add-on] Added the option to set the number of years for permanently deleting results
For schools with the Results retention period add-on, the permanent deletion period now allows 3 through 7 years, instead of only 7 as it was before.
The browser tab icon now uses the ans* brand colour
The asterisk in the browser tab now uses the same peach colour as the ans* logo in every environment.
To make non-production environments easier to recognise, the page title now starts with [EDU] or [STAGE].
Aligning the toolbars on pages with lists
The design of the toolbar with search and filter options is now aligned across pages with lists of items. Previously, each search bar had its own placeholder, such as "Find an assignment..." or "Find a group...". Now the search field comes first and shows "Filter..." on every page, followed by the filter options. When the page is too narrow, the toolbar wraps onto a second line.
Additionally, the class and group filters on a course's "Learners" and "Marks" pages have been improved. These filters now update the list without having to reload the page. Each filter has its own clear button, and the "Clear filters" and "Restore last used filters" buttons have been removed.
Employee lists show which users have two-factor authentication
The employee list and the external user list now show a green "2FA" chip next to the name of every user who has set up two-factor authentication. Hovering the chip shows "This person's account is protected with two-factor authentication (2FA)." Users who have not set it up have no chip.
Access, prerequisites and proctoring are now managed on one taking settings page
Previously, access, proctoring and requirements each had their own page in the assignment settings menu.
These settings are now edited together on the Taking settings page. Open it from the sessions page of an assignment, with the settings button next to the new timeslot button. The page holds one section per group: Access, Proctoring for desktop devices, After submitting, and Prerequisites. A section only appears when it applies to the assignment, Proctoring and after Submitting are for digital tests only. All sections are saved together with the update button at the top of the page.
Ticking "Multiple attempts" now shows a "Limit number of attempts" checkbox below it. Ticking that checkbox shows a field next to it where you enter the maximum, from 2 to 998. While "Limit number of attempts" is unticked, attempts stay unlimited. Unticking "Multiple attempts" sets the assignment back to one attempt.
Access and proctoring labels state what they do. "Restrict assignment access locations" is now "Only allow starting from the selected locations' networks", "Restricted access to other pages in ans" is now "Block other pages in this platform until participants submit", and the proctoring options read "Report when participants leave the test tab" and "Report when participants copy or paste content".
The "After submitting" section holds two options. "Show preliminary result immediately after submission", previously called "Show preliminary result" has moved off the publication settings. "Allow participants to leave a comment after submission", previously called "Allow comments after the test", has moved off the Instructions section of the Digital test settings page.
Participant comments follow the rules of the Taking settings page. Anyone who manages the assignment's sessions can change it, including course invigilators. It can be changed after the assignment has been taken and on assignments bought from the marketplace, and enabling or disabling it takes effect immediately for participants looking at their result. Comments left by participants are still counted per session on the sessions page. An assignment generated from a question bank now keeps its own choice for participant comments. Synchronising with the question bank no longer overwrites it, and changing it does not mark the assignment as out of sync. The option has been removed from the Digital test settings page of question bank assignments.
"Requirements" are renamed to "Prerequisites". A prerequisite still names another assignment in the course and the condition on it: completed, completed with a mark of at least a given value, or completed with a mark below it. Each assignment can be used once, and the option to add another disappears once every assignment in the course is used.
Until 1 January 2027 the Accessibility, Proctoring and Requirements entries stay in the assignment settings menu. Opening one says the settings have moved and links to the sessions page.
Upgrade supported Safe Exam Browser version to 3.7.0
The download link on the Safe Exam Browser start page now points to version 3.7 for macOS and 3.10.2 for Windows. Safe Exam Browser 3.6.1 does not run on macOS 26.6 and later, because Apple changed its code-signing certificates, so macOS users need 3.7.
The "Allowed versions" fields in the school and assignment Safe Exam Browser settings show the new versions as examples: "3.7.0" for macOS and "3.10.2" for Windows. The iOS example still reads "3.6", the latest version in the App Store is 3.6.2. These examples are placeholders, allowed versions a school or teacher already filled in are unchanged.
Removed the publication defaults page from the school settings
Previously, the school settings had a "Publication defaults" page, between "Results" and "Review" in the settings menu. It set the starting values for every new publication in the school: which parts of a result participants see, such as the grade, the questions, the given answers and the grading description, and whether they can export their result.
That page has been removed. Publication settings are still set per assignment, on the assignment's publication. Schools that configured defaults keep them: new publications are still created with those values, and those values can no longer be viewed or changed.
A new way to publish results is in preview. It sets who sees a result, from where, and which questions it shows, on each publication instead of school-wide.
Removed the "Added by" column from course staff
The course staff table no longer includes the “Added by” column, keeping the overview focused on staff and their roles.
Information about who added a staff member remains available in the course logs.
Removed the exercises overview from the results page
Previously, the results page of an assignment had a side navigation with "Marks" and "Exercises". The "Exercises" view showed a table with one row per participant and one column per question, numbered per exercise ("1a", "1b"). Each cell held an icon for correct, partially correct, incorrect, unanswered or ungraded, and clicking it opened that question in the grading view. The view was unavailable for assignments with more than 50 questions.
The side navigation is gone and the results page now opens directly on the marks table. To see how a participant answered each question, open their result and use the grading view.
Removed School level from the first level of breadcrumbs navigation
Previously, the breadcrumb navigation started with the name of your school. For example, the breadcrumb could show “School name” – “Course name” – “Assignment name”, with each element linking to the corresponding page.
The school name has been removed from the breadcrumb because it is the same across all pages and therefore provides little insight into your current location when navigating within Ans.
The breadcrumb now starts with either the course or question bank. When navigating within a course to a specific assignment, the course name becomes the first level of the breadcrumb and can be used to navigate back to the course page.
Removed the option to move an assignment to another course
Previously, there were two ways to move an assignment to a different course. From the assignment settings page, you could select either “Copy assignment” or “Move this assignment.” The “Move this assignment” option was located in the Danger Zone at the bottom of the settings page.
The “Move this assignment” option has now been removed because it was more limited than the “Copy assignment” action. It could only be used if no participants had taken the assignment yet. An example of a use case for "Move this assignment" was when an assignment had been created in an incorrect course.
To move an assignment to another course, you can now use “Copy assignment” and select the desired course. The copied assignment retains the exercises and settings from the original assignment, and “copy” is added to the assignment name. Once the copy has been created, you can move the original assignment to the trash.
Nothing has changed in the process for moving a question bank assignment to another question bank.
Removed links in question bank assignments
As announced previously, links are no longer available in question bank assignments. In assignment settings, the links section is no longer shown and instructors can no longer create, edit, or remove links.
Removed ability to grade by starting from maximum points
As announced previously, grading now always starts at zero points. The option to configure questions to start from maximum points and subtract has been removed from the question's grading options.
Questions that previously used the option to start from maximum points are unchanged. Any change the question grade scheme or awarded scores, will recalculate the scores with the points starting from zero.
Bug fixes and small changes
-
Sections can now be deleted even if they contain exercises
Previously, the option to delete a section was hidden if the section contained one or more exercises. To delete the section, you first had to remove all exercises from it.It is now possible to delete a section even when it contains exercises. To do this, click the three dots on the right side of the section and select Delete. A confirmation message will appear, allowing you to confirm or cancel the action.
If you confirm the deletion, the section and all exercises it contains will be removed. The remaining sections and exercises will be automatically renumbered.
If an exercise from a question bank is used in the assignment, deleting the section will remove the exercise from the assignment. The exercise itself will remain available in the question bank. Only the link between the exercise and the assignment is removed. This means that you can add the exercise from the question bank to the assignment again at any time.
-
Fixed an issue where the first question created in an assignment would close automatically
Previously, adding the first question to an exercise briefly opened its editing form for about a second before closing again. To start editing the question, it was necessary to click 'Edit'. Additional questions added to the exercise did not have this issue and remained open. The question’s editing form now remains open after it is created, including for the first question in an exercise.
-
Assignment prerequisites are restored after an assignment is restored from the trash
Previously, when an assignment with prerequisites was moved to the trash, those prerequisites were deleted and were not restored when the assignment was recovered. Before an assignment was moved to the trash, a confirmation dialog displayed the assignments whose prerequisites referenced it and asked the user to confirm the action.
Assignment prerequisites are now preserved when an assignment is moved to the trash. While the required assignment remains in the trash, its prerequisite is not shown to students on the assignment page and is not enforced when they start the assignment. When the assignment is restored, the prerequisite is automatically reactivated.
-
Fixed an issue where file names changed after importing via QTI
Previously, imported files displayed their file IDs instead of their names. Files in exercises imported using QTI 2.1 or QTI 3.0 now keep their original file names.
-
Fixed an issue where blocked accounts could not be added as contributors to a question bank
Previously, the 'Add contributors' search on a question bank left out everyone with a blocked account, so they could not be added even though they were still visible everywhere else.Blocked accounts now appear in the search results and can be added as contributors, the same as in the course, class and department member searches. Their row shows a 'Blocked account' chip. Blocking an account only prevents that person from logging in; it does not remove them from the interface.
-
Fixed an issue where opening an old link to the exercises in a question bank showed an error page
Links and bookmarks to the exercise overview of a question bank that were made before the filters were redesigned showed an error page. They now open normally, with the search and filters from the link applied.
-
Fixed an issue where the Copy button was enabled without selecting a course
Previously, when copying a question bank assignment to a course, the 'Copy button' could be clicked without selecting a course from the list. Clicking the button without selecting a course resulted in an error page. The Copy button is now disabled until a course has been selected as the destination for the assignment.
-
Fixed an issue where rows and columns could not be removed from a match question
Previously, removing a row or a column from a match question failed when the test had deleted results. Deleting a result moves its answers to the trash so the result can be restored later, and those trashed answers stayed attached to the cells in the row or column being removed. Saving the question returned an error and the row or column stayed in place.Rows and columns can now be removed whether or not the test has deleted results. The answers recorded for the removed cells are deleted along with them, including those belonging to deleted results.
-
Fixed an issue where the predefined answer option was incorrectly disabled after saving a filled predefined answer
Previously, the "Predefined answer" option under the gear icon was shown as disabled after saving a predefined answer that had no text, such as a table with empty cells. The predefined answer itself stayed visible below the question. The "Predefined answer" option is now enabled whenever a predefined answer is saved. This applies to the question types 'Open', 'Code editor', and 'Spreadsheet' in digital tests and question banks.
-
Buttons on the digital test start and result pages use the current styling
The "Start", "Exit the Safe Exam Browser", "Start reviewing" and "New attempt" buttons in a digital test now use the same styling as buttons on the rest of the pages, and follow the new color scheme.
-
Fixed an issue where a digital test that ran out of time was registered as submitted by the student
Previously, when the timer of a digital test reached 00:00, the student was sent to the submitted page and that submission was registered under their name. The logs of the assignment then showed the student as the person who submitted the result, which made it look as though they had handed in their work themselves at that moment.A digital test that runs out of time is now registered as an automatic submission, the same as when the deadline passes while the student is no longer on the page.
-
Changed how exercise names are displayed on the review overview
Previously, the “Review per exercise” section displayed the numerical prefix before each exercise name. The numerical prefix is now removed to keep exercise names consistent with how exercises are displayed elsewhere in the grading process.
-
Fixed an issue where zooming with the pen tool drew an unintended line
Previously, when the pen tool was selected and the zoom level was changed, a line could be unintentionally drawn on the result. This occurred both when changing the zoom level with a mouse and when using a touchscreen with your fingers. Although the line would disappear from view, it was still saved. As a result, the line would reappear when the result was reloaded. When using the pen tool with a finger, placing a second finger on the screen will cancel the line being drawn. Changing the zoom level within the results will no longer save an unintended drawing.
Drawing with one finger, a stylus, or a mouse continues to work as before.
-
Fixed an issue where students were unable to reply to a discussion when the discussion period had ended
Previously, once the discussion period for a publication had ended, students could no longer reply to discussions they had already started. The reply field was no longer available, even though the publication page stated that existing discussions would remain open for replies.Students can now reply to their existing discussions after the discussion period has ended, as long as the discussion itself remains open. Starting a new discussion is only possible during the active discussion period.
Students still cannot edit or delete their own messages once the discussion period has ended. This change does not affect reviewers or instructors.
-
Fixed an issue where a removed digital test result could be restored after the test changed
When all results of a digital test are removed, the digital test is unlocked for editing. Exercises and questions could then be added, removed or changed, and the removed result could still be restored afterwards. The restored result no longer matched the digital test, making it unreliable because it was based on an earlier version of the test.On the "Removed results" page, the "Restore" button now only appears when the digital test content is unchanged since the result was created. Otherwise the row shows "The assignment has changed since this result was created".
Any change to the content of the digital test blocks restoring, including changes to points, criteria and feedback. Results of other assignment types can be restored as before.
-
Blocked unsupported Turnitin EULA configurations and saved report viewer changes
Turnitin can now only be configured for tenants that do not require users to accept a Turnitin EULA. When a tenant requires EULA support, configuration is blocked and administrators are directed to contact Turnitin. Existing connections no longer show or submit EULA acceptance on behalf of users. Schools currently using a tenant that requires EULA acceptance have been informed and asked to contact Turnitin to update their configuration.Changes made by instructors and reviewers in the Turnitin report viewer are now saved. Learner access remains read-only.
-
Fixed an issue where users could get an error page instead of being sent to the login page
When a user who wasn't logged in opened a page with a very long web address, for example after going back and forth between ans and the school's login portal several times, ans sometimes showed an error page instead of the login page. Users now always go to the login page. After logging in they land on the start page instead of that one long address.

The login page now shows why you were logged out
Previously, opening a page while logged out displayed a warning. Now, a blue banner appears on the login page above the login form, explaining why you are logged out. The message explains whether you are logged out because of inactivity or because your account was used elsewhere.
Problems that occur while logging in are still shown as errors. For example, entering incorrect credentials will display an error message.

Fixed an issue where the API returned an error instead of "not found" for a missing Proctorio, Schoolyear or Turnitin integration
When you requested, updated or deleted the Proctorio or Schoolyear integration of an assignment that doesn't have one, the API returned a server error. The same happened when you requested the Turnitin integration of such an assignment. The API now returns a 404 Not Found response, so your integration can tell that the assignment isn't linked yet.

Changed when the KR20 is shown at assignment insights overview
The "Reliability (KR20 / α)" figure no longer appears in the "Metrics" section of an assignment's insights when that assignment is randomly generated. The number of results, pass rate, standard deviation and standard measurement error still appear there.KR20 measures how consistently one set of questions ranks students. A randomly generated assignment gives each student a different set, so the number it produced said nothing about the assignment.
