Important changes
15th of September 2024 - Deprecation of the "Grading events" feature
To keep our platform simple and user-friendly, we have decided to deprecate the open beta feature Grading events. Since this information is already available in the result log, it will now be displayed in a single location. This change reduces redundancy and simplifies the interface.
The overview of all important changes can be found here.
Changes to the platform
Released 'Logs' out of beta
The assignment, course, school, question bank, question bank assignment and question bank exercise logs have been released from open beta and are now generally available. These logs include all the information that was available in the old logs, plus additional attribute changes.
The functionality to remove exercises from a question bank assignment from the exercise overview has been removed
As announced previously, the functionality to remove exercises from a question bank assignment directly from the exercise overview will be removed. This change aims to simplify the actions available at the exercise overview.
The new submit button for digital tests is now easier to find and customise
The submit button for students’ digital tests has been redesigned and relocated to improve visibility and usability. Previously, the submit buttons were placed in the bottom navigation and the settings dropdown menu, making them difficult to locate. Now, the submit button has been moved to the right side of the top navigation, ensuring it is more noticeable for students when they need to submit their answers.
Additionally, administrators can personalise the submit button by changing its text and background colour from the Themes tab in the school settings allowing the button to align with your school’s branding.
One-time password requests are now included in the user log
The user log now logs when a user requests a one time password for a student during the taking session of a digital test. The name of the user and the time that they requested the one time password is shown in the log entry.
Language, timezone, and survey preference changes are now included in the user log
The user log now includes entries for changes to a user’s language, timezone settings, and survey preferences.
Removing and restoring results are now included in the result log
The result log has been expanded to include entries for the removal and restoration of results.
Moving a question bank assignment to another question bank is now included in the question bank assignment log
The question bank assignment log now shows when an assignment is moved to another question bank, providing clearer tracking of these changes.
Removing and restoring a question bank is now included in the question bank log
The question bank log now includes details on who removed or restored a question bank and the timestamp of the action.
Enhanced the question bank exercise log
We have improved our question bank exercise. The updates now include additional details, indicating if any of the following have changed:
- Exercise name
- If the exercise was removed or restored
- Whether the option "Exercise can be viewed once" was enable
Enhanced the assignment and question bank assignment logs
We have added the following attributes to the logs for question bank assignments:
- Assignment type
- Blueprint
- Mark calculation type
- Marking formula
- Limit the lowest mark
- Limit the highest mark
- Lowest mark possible
- Highest mark possible
- Guess correction
- Pass mark
- Removal and restoration
- Rounding
Additionally we have added the following attributes to the logs for both assignments and question bank assignments:
- Allow comments after the test
- Descriptions before/during/after the test
- Display all alternatives vertically
- Show date and time on cover
- Display the exercise name
- Enumeration
- Display the number of points for each question
- Integrity statement
- Custom LaTeX packages and macros
- Exercise box
- Shuffle flow groups
- Keep second page empty
- Show multiple choice instructions
- Display names of flow groups
- Shuffle the answer alternatives for each question
- Ask for student name
Enhanced the question bank assignment log to include changes made to the label of the assignment
With this update, we now display who changed the label, what it was changed from (e.g., 'Draft' to 'Review needed'), and when it was updated.
Improved the styling of script in logs
The styling of the code editor logs has been improved. Previously, the logs were displayed on a single line, making them difficult to read. Now, line breaks are preserved in the logs, enhancing readability and making it easier to understand the logged information.
Simplified the table pagination by removing the items per page selector
We have simplified the pagination system across the platform by removing the custom pagination selector. This change standardises the pagination controls, providing a consistent and more intuitive experience. Additionally, the default number of items displayed per page has been increased to 25, making it easier to view more content at once.
Bug fixes
-
Fixed issue where it was not possible to export a blueprint with special characters in its name
Previously it was not possible to export blueprints with special characters in its name. Now blueprints can be exported regardless of special characters.
-
Fixed an issue where the number of questions in a question bank incorrectly displayed a negative number
Previously, when deleting a large number of questions from a question bank using a page-by-page approach, the total question count could sometimes become negative. This issue has now been fixed, ensuring the correct number of remaining questions is displayed accurately.
-
Fixed an issue where long assignment names would cause the link to a specific result to disappear during review
Previously, when an assignment name was too long, the link to the review next result (>) button would disappear. We now truncate assignment names when they exceed a certain length, ensuring the link remains in its position.
-
Fixed an issue where adjustments to grading were not processed if no criteria had been selected
Previously, if a reviewer applied an adjustment without selecting any grading criteria, no points were added, and the question was not considered fully graded. For the question to be counted as graded, the reviewer had to select a grading criterion, even if it was 0 points. Now, adding an adjustment to a question marks it as graded, even if no grading criteria are selected.
-
Fixed an issue where participants could not review peer results if previous peer reviews were removed
Previously, if peer reviews for a result were removed, participants could not start a new peer review for that result. Now, these results will be displayed as 'Removed' in the peer result overview, and the participants that performed these removed reviews are once again able to review another participant.
-
Fixed an issue where it was possible to click the "Add" button without selecting any users
Previously, the “Add” button in the dialog could be clicked to add learners to a group without selecting any users. Now, the button remains disabled until at least one user is selected. This fix also applies to adding members to a course.
-
Fixed an issue where pre-existing email addresses in another school caused account creation to fail
Previously, users could not create accounts within their school if their email address had been registered with a different school, even if their current school owned the registered domain. Now, users can correctly create accounts within their school regardless of prior registration with a different school.
-
Fixed an issue where changes to the group in an existing timeslot were not logged
Previously, changing groups or classes assigned to a timeslot were not logged in the assignment log, unlike other changes. We have now improved the timeslot logging to include these changes as well.
-
Fixed an issue where some emojis were represented by their Unicode counterparts
Previously, some emojis were not properly displayed in written assignments and were replaced with their Unicode values instead. Now, we have added these missing emojis, so they are displayed properly.
-
Improved the GIF error message
Previously, the error message for written assignments containing an unsupported image type, GIF, did not specify the GIF file. The updated error message now includes the GIF file name, making it easier to identify the issue.
-
Fixed an issue where reviewers could be assigned to inaccessible flags
Previously, it was possible to assign reviewers to flags even if they did not have access to review the question due to being in a different group. Now, the assignee dropdown only displays users who have access to review the question.
