As our platform accumulates data over time, the importance of archiving data in the platform becomes more apparent. Archiving assignments means that the assignment is read-only and cannot be changed in any way.
Archive assignments
- Click the domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click label_importantCourses in the menu at the top.
- Select your course or use the search bar.
- Select your assignment or use the search bar.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- Click Archive in the Danger zone section.
- A pop-up will appear, click Confirm.
The assignment will disappear from the default view on the assignments page. You can use the dropdown filter to pull the archived assignments to the front again. If you then click on that assignment, a banner 'This assignment has been archived. It is read-only' at the top of the page will appear. Keep in mind that archiving an assignment as a teacher makes it archived for students as well.
It is possible to change the label of archived assignments. In this way, labels can be used to categorise archived assignments as well as unarchived assignments. As labels are used in combination with protection rules and archived assignments cannot be changed, updating the label will not have an effect on the changes that can be made to the assignment.
If an assignment has been archived, it will no longer be possible to make changes to the following integrations within the assignment settings: Ouriginal, ProctorExam, ReadSpeaker, Safe Exam Browser, Schoolyear, STEP, and Turnitin.
Archiving of open assignments is prohibited. We do not allow assignments with a current timeslot to be archived. This prevents participants from trying to start an assignment which is already archived.
Unarchive assignments
- Click the domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click label_importantCourses in the menu at the top.
- Select your course or use the search bar.
- Click the dropdown menu All and select Archived. The list of archived assignments will display.
- Select the assignment that you want to unarchive.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- Click Unarchive in the Danger zone section.
- A pop-up will appear, click Confirm.
The banner will disappear from the top of the assignment and the assignment can be edited again. It will also appear on the default view on the assignment page again.
Only administrators or the instructor who archived the assignment can unarchive the assignment. This also means that whenever an instructor archives an assignment, another instructor of the same course will not be able to unarchive the assignment.
We restrict unarchiving of results when its assignment is archived. This ensures there are no unarchived results in archived assignments.
