If your school has live chat enabled, you are able to communicate with participants during the taking session of your digital test.
Enable live chat
- Click the domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click label_important Courses in the menu at the top.
- Select your course or use the search bar.
- Select your assignment or use the search bar.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- Click Accessibility in the menu on the left.
- Check the box Live chat under the Utilities section.
Use live chat
Navigate back to the play_circle_outline Taking page and click on the tab Chats. You have two options. You can broadcast an announcement to all participants that are taking the test or you can chat one on one with a participant. Announcements can be sent even before a test has started.
Send an announcement
Send announcements to which participants can respond
Click on Announcements, type a message and then click on the send icon. All participants of the test will receive a notification of the announcement. Participants also have the option to reply to the notification which will be in their private chat with the instructor.
Send announcements to which participants cannot respond
To have one-way communication with the participants of the digital test, you can send announcements to which participants cannot respond. To make use of one-way communication, the live chat functionality has to be disabled in the accessibility settings of the test. Then click on Announcements in the taking overview, type a message and then click on the send icon. All participants of the test will receive a notification of the announcement.
Chat with a participant
To start a one-on-one chat with a student, go to the Participants tab and search for the participant you want to chat with. Click on the more_vert icon and click Open chat. Type your message and click on the send icon. The participant will receive a notification with your message and can reply by clicking on the notification or on the chat-icon in the top bar.
