Important changes
21st of July 2024 - Content Security Policy will be enabled
With the upcoming release of July 21st, we will enable our Content Security Policy (CSP). A CSP acts as a security guard for our platform by instructing the browser on which content (such as images, scripts, or styles) is safe to load, ensuring only approved content is displayed. This helps protect our platform from malicious actors. We have been running our CSP in report-only mode for several months to ensure there is no impact on our customers.
While we still allow embedding images from any source, embedding JavaScript or other websites in Ans will not be permitted.
The overview of all important changes that may require an action from administrators can be found here.
Changes to the platform
Renamed "password" to "access code" for assignments and publications
We have updated the name of the optional assignment and publication "password" to be "access code". This is meant to differentiate between account passwords, which are different across users, versus an access code which is shared for a given assignment or publication.
Added a warning when navigating between the 'grading scheme' and 'exercise' with unsaved changes
We have added an unsaved changes warning to the "to grading scheme" and "to exercise" buttons. Now, if you click either of these buttons while editing a question with unsaved content, a dialog will appear to alert you.
Added a warning when navigating away from a question bank exercise with unsaved changes
An unsaved changes warning will now also be displayed when attempting to navigate away from an exercise in the question bank when the questions have unsaved content.
Added support for including images in the question feedback in the Respondus question import
Previously, images in question feedback were not imported when using the Respondus question import. Now, these images are fully supported and will be imported correctly.
Password-protected assignments can now only be unlocked 15 minutes before the digital test
Previously, students could enter an access code for a password-protected assignment with a timeslot set far in advance. Now, it’s only possible 15 minutes before the digital test.
Added support for multiple identity providers in a single school via SURFconext
Dutch schools can now connect multiple SURF identity providers to their account. This update is particularly beneficial for schools with specialised departments, like medical faculties, that use distinct identity providers. With this enhancement, these departments can integrate seamlessly into the school's existing setup without the need for separate SAML configurations.
API changes
The guess score per question is now available in the API
It is now possible to retrieve the guess score per question with the attribute guess_score
via the Question API.
Open beta changes
Enhanced the assignment log
We have significantly improved our assignment logs to provide more detailed information about assignment changes. The updates now include additional details alongside the existing ones, indicating if any of the following have changed for an assignment:
- Label
- Course
- Link to a question bank assignment
- External ID
- Assignment type
- Whether the assessment is summative
- Whether participants have restricted access to other pages
- Notes
- Whether participants are allowed to use spell checking
- Mark calculation
- Marking formula
- Rounding (how marks should be rounded)
- Whether marks have upper and lower limits, and what those limits are
- Whether the assignment has guess correction enabled
- Pass mark
Bug fixes
-
Fixed an issue where the dialog for linking assignments to question bank assignments was showing incorrect search results
Previously, when linking or saving an assignment to a question bank assignment, navigating between pages with a search term in the search bar would result in incorrectly filtered items. This issue has now been fixed, and the list will correctly display items based on the search term.
-
Fixed an issue where rich text editors were duplicated when navigating back to the previous page
Previously when using the browser's back button to navigate back to the previous page, duplicated rich text editors will appear. Now, the rich text editor will no longer be duplicated.
-
Fixed inconsistency between the header column in the exercise import and export CSV files
Previously, there was a difference between the header column in the exercise import template and those in the exported exercise CSV files. Although either of the header columns were valid, the inconsistency caused confusion. Now, the header columns in the exercise import template have been aligned with those in the exported files. The text in the header is now capitalized, digits are separated with spaces and "ID" is added to the "Question Title" column.
-
Fixed issue where removed users could still appear in the taking overview
Previously, when a student was removed from the school while the assignment was already planned, the participants list on the taking page would display an empty row for the removed student. This has been fixed and removed students will no longer show up as empty rows within the participants list.
-
Fixed an issue where multiple-choice answer alternatives of automatically scored questions would display the incorrect background colour
Previously, when automatic scoring was enabled for multiple-choice questions with multiple alternatives, incorrect answers would display a grey background if they were worth 0 points and red if they were worth negative points. This could happen when you changed the answer alternative's points to 0 when the automatic scoring was not turned on, and then switched back to using automatic scoring. Now, all incorrect alternatives that do not award points to participants are displayed in red.
-
Fixed an issue where the student insights title would not be translated
The title of the study insights page for students was incorrectly translated. Now, the correct translation is used.
-
Removed the redundant 'Printable view of the published content' setting in appraisal forms
Previously, the option "Printable view of the published content" was visible in the publication options of an appraisal form, even though this option is not relevant for this assignment type. To avoid confusion, this option has been removed.
-
Fixed an issue where correct alternatives for closed questions would appear in bold in publications when "Evaluation criteria" is disabled
Previously, when publishing results, the correct answer alternatives would be shown in bold even when "Evaluation criteria" was disabled. Now, correct alternatives will no longer show in bold unless "Evaluation criteria" is enabled in the publication settings.
-
Fixed an issue where the "Results" table would contain an empty column when the mark calculation type was set to "None"
Previously, when the mark calculation type was set to "None", the "Results" table would contain an empty mark column. Now, the table will not display the mark column when the mark calculation type has been set to "None".
-
Fixed an issue where the guess correction icon and tooltip were present although the result did not have a guess score
Previously, if an assignment had guess correction enabled but no closed questions, the tooltip incorrectly stated that points did not differ with the guess score applied when viewing specific results. Now, the tooltip only appears when the assignment has both closed questions and guess correction enabled.
-
Fixed an issue where the IP address was not consistently aligned to the right in the result logs after viewing an exercise in a digital test
Previously, the alignment of the IP address in the result log was inconsistent. Now, it will always be right-aligned.
-
Fixed an issue where empty lines in the CSV file caused errors in the logs when importing tags
Previously, uploading a CSV file with empty lines to import tags resulted in missing header/value errors in the logs. Now, empty lines will not trigger these errors.
-
Fixed an issue where clicking the 'Save & Next' button on unrecognised pages would redirect back to the first scan in the list
Previously, clicking the "Save & Next" button while addressing unrecognized pages in uploaded written assignments would incorrectly navigate back to the first scan in the list. Now, clicking "Save & Next" will direct to the next scan in the list, as intended.
-
Fixed an issue where emojis appeared as their Unicode symbols in written assignments
Previously, the use of emojis in written assignments resulted in a Unicode symbol being shown instead of the emoji in the assignment preview. This issue has now been fixed, and the emojis are displayed correctly.
