Changes to the platform
Expanded the 'Requirements' functionality
With the requirement functionality, it is possible to select the requirement options "completed" and "completed with mark". We have now added new option: "completed with mark below", which verifies if the grade falls below the required threshold. This addition enables a reverse requirement for accessing resits. The previous "completed with mark" option has been renamed to "completed with mark equal to or above," which now verifies if the mark equals or exceeds the required level. Meanwhile, the "completed" option solely focuses on completion status, without considering the mark.
Added a warning message when leaving the 'Exercise' page if there are unsaved changes
Previously, navigating away from the 'Exercise' editing page would result in the loss of all unsaved changes to the exercise and question. Now, a warning message appears when attempting to navigate away from the page with unsaved content changes. Please note that modifications to images, videos, and audio snippets do not trigger the warning.
Added a counter to indicate the amount of questions containing completed grading schemes
We have added an indicator on the exercise header displaying the number of questions with a completed grading scheme. This enhancement provides visibility into the quantity of questions that have a completed grading scheme.
The percentage of the points that are obtained in a result are now displayed
The percentage of points a student has earned is now displayed when viewing specific results or at the results overview.
The context menu on the media player is now blocked
Previously, users could access the context menu in the media player by right-clicking on the video or audio, which allowed them to download the content. This has now been disabled to prevent users from downloading video or audio files.
Bug fixes
-
Fixed an issue where the button to enable Safe Exam Browser for an assignment remained clickable even after enabling a proctoring integration
When a proctoring integration was already enabled in an assignment, the button to enable the Safe Exam Browser remained active and would lead to a blank page when clicked. This could cause confusion regarding the combine of combining a lockdown browser with a proctoring integration. Now, the button to enable the Safe Exam Browser is disabled when a proctoring integration is already enabled for an assignment.
-
Fixed issue where the variables values were not shown when printing an assignment with the grading scheme
Previously, when using variables, the values of the variables would not be displayed correctly and instead display the name of the variable and not the value. Now, the correct values of the variables are displayed.
-
Fixed an issue where the existing grading would be removed if the points of the question changed from zero to a positive value
Previously, if the points for a manually graded question were changed from zero to a positive value, all previous grading for that question would be removed. This meant that the question would need to be manually graded again. Now, grading is retained when points for a question change from zero to a positive value. Grading will only reset to zero if the question's points are set to 0. This change does not affect automatically graded questions; their behaviour remains unchanged (i.e., changing points for these questions will still trigger a recalculation of grades).
-
Fixed an issue where removing a question from a question bank exercise caused the assignment exercise to incorrectly indicate that it was out of sync
Previously, deleting a question from the middle of a question bank exercise would cause it to go out of sync with its linked assignment. Now, question positions are updated correctly, keeping the question bank exercise and assignment in sync when a question is removed.
-
Fixed an issue where participants were not provided instructions on how to exit the Safe Exam Browser when their digital test results were automatically submitted
When participants had their results automatically submitted while taking a digital test in the Safe Exam Browser, they were directed to a page where it wasn't clear how to close the browser. This differed from the page shown to participants when they manually submitted their results, which includes a button to exit the Safe Exam Browser. To improve usability, an exit button has been added to this page also, making it easier for participants to close the browser.
-
Added "Points" label for adjustments during grading
Previously, when creating a points adjustment during grading, the input field did not have a label. This caused confusion about the expected input type. To prevent confusion, the input field now includes a "Points" label to clearly indicate that a numeric value needs to be entered.
-
Fixed an issue where the peer review result counter would incorrectly display the amount of reviews a student could conduct
Previously, during a peer review, the result counter incorrectly displayed the number of peer reviews a student could conduct. Now, the review result counter is removed when no additional peer reviews are available for the student.
-
Fixed an issue where the review progress in a peer-reviewed digital test could exceed a 100%
Previously, the review progress percentage included optional peer reviews. To prevent confusion, the review progress percentage will now exclude additional reviews performed by participants.
-
Fixed an issue where it was not possible to assign reviewers to exercises within a peer-reviewed digital test
Previously, assigning reviewers to exercises in peer-reviewed digital tests was not possible for instructors. Now, instructors have the ability to assign reviewers to these tests.
-
Fixed an issue where the peer review progress would not get updated when changing the number of peer reviews
Previously, if an instructor changed the number of peer reviews, then the peer review progress would not get updated until a participant performed a review. Now, the progress gets updated when changing the number of peer reviews
-
Fixed an issue where it was possible to create a publication for self-reviewed digital tests
Previously, it was possible to create a publication for self-reviewed digital tests. As participants already have access to their own answers, it is not necessary to create a publication. From now on, it will no longer be possible to create a publication for self-reviewed digital tests.
-
Fixed an issue where it was possible to view results that had not been handed in yet
Previously, it would be possible to view results before they had been submitted through the multiple attempts dropdown. Now, attempts that have not yet been handed in do not show in the attempts dropdown on results.
-
Fixed an issue where alumni users were not displayed in question banks and groups
Previously, the list of contributors in question banks and the list of users in groups did not include alumni. This led to a discrepancy between the actual number of users and the displayed list size. Alumni users are now included in these lists.
-
Changed the imperative verbs to their infinitive form in Dutch at the members overview
Previously, we changed all imperatives in the platform for the Dutch language to use the infinitive instead, however some were missed at the members overview on course level. These have now also been updated for consistency.
-
Fixed an issue where the 'Exam services' button incorrectly appeared clickable, even when the assignment contained generated forms
For schools using the Canon integration, the 'Exam services' button in written assignments was clickable but non-functional when the assignment contained generated forms . To prevent confusion, the 'Exam services' button has been moved from the bottom of the PDF preview to above it and will be greyed out and rendered non-clickable when the written assignment has generated forms.
-
Added the possibility to utilise custom parameters during the LTI linking process in LMS
We have improved our integration with LMS platforms, allowing the use of custom parameters when linking assignments between the platform and Ans.
-
Fixed an issue where the cover page in written assignments was not properly translated
Previously, the cover page of written assignments were not correctly translated. Now, the cover page is translated into the language set in the school settings.
-
Fixed an issue where entering a table into a multiple choice option caused a LaTeX error when generating the assignment preview
Multiple choice options within written assignments encountered issues concerning the use of tables, as well as ordered and unordered lists. The preview would fail to load when tables were used. Additionally, the use of lists within multiple choice options varied inconsistently compared to their functionality in question content.Previously, the presence of ordered and unordered lists within multiple choice options prevented the PDF preview of written assignments from loading. We have fixed this issue, now allowing the use of ordered and unordered lists within both the question content and multiple choice options.
Furthermore, the integration of tables within the multiple choice options of written assignments is now possible.
-
Fixed an issue where the dialog box for incomplete forms was too narrow
Previously, the dialog box for incomplete forms was too narrow, making it difficult to see all the content. Now, the dialog box will expand to full width depending on the content, ensuring that all information is visible without the need for scrolling.
-
Fixed an issue where removed items were not consistently ordered by 'last removed first' across all categories
Previously, removed courses, question banks, and assignments were not sorted according to their 'removed at' timestamp. Now, these items are organised based on the date of removal, ensuring that the most recently removed items appear at the top of the Removed overview.
-
Fixed an issue where it was possible to open multiple equation dialogs in a digital test when using the mathematical equation question
Previously, when adding a new equation in a mathematical equation question, participants could inadvertently open multiple dialogs. To prevent this, the button is now disabled while loading, and it cannot be clicked while a dialog is open.
-
Fixed an issue where clicking on an exercise link in the result log would display an error page
Previously, clicking on the link in the result log indicating that the participant viewed the exercise would display an error page instead of redirecting appropriately. Clicking on the link now correctly redirects to the review page of the exercise.
-
Removed possibility to copy and paste images in the 'Ask a question' dialog
Previously, users were able to copy and paste an image in the ‘Ask a question’ dialog, even though images were not supported in the box. Now, copy and pasting images has been disabled in the ‘Ask a question’ dialog.
-
Fixed an issue where text could not be inserted before an image in the rich text editor
Previously, when an image was the first element in the rich text editor, inserting text before the image was not possible. Now, text can be inserted above images in all rich text editors.
-
Replaced "exams" with "results" in the uploaded assignments at the scan overview
Previously, on the scans overview page, the count of results associated with an assignment was named "exams." This has been corrected, and it now reads "results" to prevent confusion, as clicking on the assignment redirects to its results page.
-
Improved the way webhook events are handled when working with an assignment preview
In some cases, a webhook would needlessly register changes to a result that was created while previewing a digital test. These results are intended for demonstration purposes and should not trigger any webhook activity.

Department administrators are now required to provide a selection of studies when creating a course for their department
We now require department administrators to provide a selection of one or more studies when creating courses for their department. Users with a 'Staff' role can create courses without the need to link them to a study.
