Important changes
Updated the retention period of tickets
On April 28, 2024, we will modify our Zendesk ticket retention period from 7 to 3 years. This adjustment aligns with our revised data retention policies, reflecting compliance with GDPR guidelines, which emphasise the storage of data for the shortest feasible duration. We anticipate no impact on customer workflows, as the retention period is calculated post-ticket resolution.
Changes to the platform
Improved search
We have improved the search, to make finding your assignments, courses, and users simpler and user-friendly. This includes the ability to effortlessly locate recently viewed items. Additionally, students can also utilise the improved search functionality to easily locate their assignments and courses.
Added an alternative option to navigate to the grading scheme of an exercise
We have added the option to easily navigate between the exercise and grading scheme within an exercise. The original grading scheme tab and exercise tab will remain unchanged.
Automatically graded questions are now indicated during reviewing
When reviewing results, the icon auto_fix_high is now displayed on questions that have been automatically graded. This improvement makes it easier to identify automatically graded questions versus questions that require manual grading.
Added question indicator for improved navigation when reviewing
When reviewing questions, an indicator now highlights which question you are currently viewing. This improvement makes it easier to recognise which question you are currently reviewing by displaying a dash to the left of the question number.
The total points with guess correction will now be exported when the guess correction is enabled
If guess correction has been enabled, the result export will export the guess score corrected total points per result, rather than the non-corrected total points that were exported previously. This change ensures that exported results accurately reflect the total points received.
When viewing a specific result, only the points used for calculating the mark will be displayed
To improve the clarity of information provided, we have replaced the display of the total points with the guess score corrected total points in the results. Since the guess score corrected total points directly influence the mark calculation, the inclusion of regular total points was redundant and led to confusion.
Added an option to prevent Single Sign-On from updating existing accounts
We have improved our Single Sign-On functionality by adding a new option in the settings. This new option can prevent changes to existing user accounts when logging in through Single Sign-On, making sure the user information stays the same.
Open beta changes
Added logging of publication timeslots to the assignment log
We have improved our assignment log by tracking and showing creations, updates and deletions of publication timeslots.
API changes
The amount of points that a result has received with guess correction applied is now available in the API
It is now possible to retrieve the guess corrected total points of a result with the attribute total_points_with_guess_correction
via the Result API.
Bug fixes
-
Fixed an issue where the icon to open the settings menu of a question was not visible due too wide content of the question
Previously the icon to edit the setting of a question could be hidden from view and only accessed by scrolling horizontally if there was wide content in the question. Now, the width of the question content is restricted, making sure the settings icon is always visible.
-
Fixed an issue where tags from removed exercises were still displayed
Previously, when adding a tag to an exercise in a question bank, tags connected to removed exercises would still be displayed in the autocomplete options. Now, only relevant tags are displayed.
-
Fixed an issue where the image preview did not fit in the dialog
Previously, when attempting to open an image from the side preview, the image would not fit in the dialog. This has been changed so that the full image is always visible in the opened dialog.
-
Removed instructions in the import dialog indicating the download of a template when importing a QTI file
For clarity, we have removed the sentence suggesting to download a template when importing a QTI file, as there is no template to download for QTI imports.
-
Removed the blank option in the 'Margin type' dropdown of numerical questions
Previously, the numerical question had a blank option. If this option was selected, the validation would fail, and the question would not be saved. This blank option has been removed from the dropdown, and now, the default selection in the dropdown will be "%". Additionally, an asterisk has been added to the input title since it is a required field.
-
Improved marker behaviour in hotspot and hotspot match questions
Previously, after selecting a marker in a hotspot or hotspot match question, the marker would remain selected, even after dragging a different marker. The marker is now deselected upon dragging another marker.
-
Prevent copying an exercise to an incompatible assignment type
Previously, when copying an exercise to an assignment, the dialog would display all assignments, even those incompatible with the question types. Now, this issue has been resolved. The dialog now only shows assignments compatible with the question types, streamlining the process.
-
Excluded tab-exiting and copy-paste monitoring for phones and tablets
Previously, typing on a phone or tablet would register as an incident, leading to false reports. "Tab-exiting" and "Copy-paste" monitoring has now been disabled for phones and tablets to prevent false reports.
-
Removed the blank option in the 'Calculator type' dropdown under the accessibility settings of a test
Previously, the blank option was selected after enabling the calculator under the accessibility settings of a digital test. Now, the basic calculator type is the default option.
-
Fixed an issue where warning messages were displayed to students in English by default
Previously, when "Restricted access to other pages" was enabled, the warning message shown to students if they tried to access other pages during a digital test would display in English, regardless of the language they have set in the platform. We now take the students set language into account when displaying the message.
-
Fixed an issue with the text of code blocks overlapping when the large font option was enabled in a digital test
Previously, when using code blocks in the answer of a multiple-choice question during a digital test, there was a possibility of overlap occurring when enabling the large font option. Now, such overlap of code blocks no longer occurs.
-
The rank correlation data dropdown will always be displayed, even when the question has been set to disabled
Previously, the rank correlation graph in the assignment insights would show an error message when there was no data available to calculate the graph, this could occur when the question was disabled. The rank correlation will now always show the data of the scores even when the question is disabled. Questions which do not have data to calculate the graph do not show the graph.
-
Fixed an issue where flow groups were not taken into account when calculating the objectives insights
Previously, when using flow in a digital test and having multiple questions belonging to the same objective, the insights would calculate the percentages based on all questions in the assignment, not just the questions answered by the participants. Now, the percentages are based solely on the questions answered by participants.
-
Added the option to print the 'Objectives', 'Alignment' & 'Comments' insights of an assignment
Previously, at the assignment insights, only the 'Overview' and 'Questions' tabs had a print option. This option has now been added to the 'Objectives', 'Alignment', and 'Comments' tab.
-
Fix model answers not showing to students unless there is at least one grading criterion
Previously, when viewing published results, students were not able to see the model answers unless a question had at least one grading criterion. We now show question details including model answers for published assignments even when there are no grading criteria, provided that this is enabled in the assignment's publication settings.
-
Renamed the "Submit" button to "Continue" in the publication for participants
Previously, if participants were required to enter a password in order to view their publication, they would be required to click "Submit" after entering the password. This button has been renamed to "Continue" to better reflect the action of progressing forward.
-
Added the course details (name, periods) to the filename of the result export
The filename when exporting results now includes both the course and period names associated with the assignment
-
The mark will no longer be displayed when viewing a specific result and the mark calculation type has been set to 'None'
Previously the total points a participant had received would display as the mark if the grade formula had been set to 'None'. This caused confusion as the total points are already visible. Therefore, the mark will no longer be displayed when the grade formula is set to 'None'.
-
Replaced "Mistake" with "Partially correct" in the Results overview
Previously, the Results exercises overview labeled exercises that received partial points as "Mistake". Now, they are referred to as "Partially correct".
-
Fixed an issue where confirming the amount of points a participant receives using keyboard shortcuts would cause an unwanted redirect
Previously, when the search or confirmation dialog for awarding zero points was open, the keyboard shortcuts would still be active. Now, they are disabled whenever the search or confirmation dialog is opened. This prevented the user from being redirected to the next page when pressing enter within the dialog.
-
Fixed an issue where the result review state and approved status were not syncing
When using the beta feature 'Reviews', there was inconsistency between the result review states and the approved state when adding a review. Now, the approved state remains synchronised with the review state, ensuring consistency throughout. This improvement also ensures a smooth transition to using the beta feature, as it requires no adjustments to existing integrations.
-
Fixed an issue where the data processing agreement was visible under school settings
Previously, the data processing agreement tab was always visible in the school settings, despite only being relevant for certain schools. This has been removed, making sure only relevant information is displayed.
-
The send grades to LMS button is now hidden if the grade calculation has been set to 'None'
When the grade calculation method was set to 'None', the option to send grades to the linked LMS was still displayed. As there are no grades for such an assignment, the button is now hidden.
-
Fixed an issue where the rich content editor allowed the creation of empty equations
Previously, when no equation was put in to the equation editor and the equation was saved, the HTML containing the empty equation would cause the written assignment preview to fail. We have now fixed this so that saving an empty equation does not create any HTML in the rich content editor field.
-
Fixed an issue where the question indicator in a written assignment preview error did not display correctly
Previously, if an error occurred during the generation of an exercise without a displayed position, the error message would incorrectly indicate the issue. We have enhanced the messaging to accommodate exercises and questions without defined positions.
-
Fixed an issue where the lines of an 'open question with final answer' were not visible when printing in black & white
When printing a written assignment in black and white that contained 'open question with final answer', the lines intended for answers were not visible. Now, the lines have been changed from grey to black to ensure visibility when printing in black and white.
-
Fixed an issue where Cyrillic characters were not supported
Previously, using Cyrillic characters in written assignments would result in an error. Now, Cyrillic characters are supported, allowing them to be used without causing any issues.
-
Fixed an issue where longer file names of uploaded scans would not display correctly
Previously, the file names of recently uploaded scans would distort if they were too long. To improve readability, we now truncate the file names when they exceed a certain length. The complete file name can still be viewed by hovering over it.
-
Improved the warning message when leaving a course
We have improved the warning message displayed when clicking on the "leave course" button. The warning now informs that leaving the course will result in losing access to all assignments and course results.
-
Removed the ability to add courses to a study from the study overview
Due to low usage, we're removing the option to add courses to a study directly from the study overview. However, courses can still be added during creation or adjusted through the course settings.
-
Added the Excel template for importing groups in a course
Employees can now import student groups into a course using our Excel template. The template can be downloaded from the 'Import groups' dialog.
-
Fixed an issue where the styling of the comment counter was incorrect
Previously, there was inconsistency in the appearance of the comment counter in question bank exercises, which has now been fixed.
-
Fixed an issue where the grading navigation colours were indistinguishable for colour-blind users
Previously, the colours of the tiles at the grading overview were not distinguishable for colour blind users. The colours used at this overview have now been updated to AA approved colours.
