In the settings of your school, you are able see an overview of all deleted users within your school. All information is anonymised. For deleted employees, you will see 'Deleted Employee' and the date in which they were deleted. For students, you will see 'Removed Student', the student ID and the date in which they were deleted.
Administrators have the rights to restore removed users. Users that are deleted will remain in the Removed users tab at the school settings. When a removed user is restored, their associations (e.g., classes, departments) are fully restored as well.
To view or restore a removed user, follow the steps below.
- Click the School name in the menu on the left.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- Click Removed users in the menu on the left.
- Search for the user that you want to restore and click Restore.
A role filter helps narrow down the list of accounts. A search bar also allows student accounts to be located by entering a student number. After an account is restored, a direct link to the profile appears in the bottom-left corner, making it easy to jump to the restored account immediately.
When restoring students, Ans will check if the student ID can be found in the removed users. If so, the student is restored and all courses, assignments, results and other relevant information are restored. For employees, Ans tries to match the email address, which is stored in the database. If the email address can be found, the employee will be restored. This can only be done if the email address is a validated email address of an activated account. Note that when deleting, the first and last name will be anonymised. When restoring, the account will be restored with the first and last name 'Deleted Employee'.
When a removed user signs in via Single Sign-On, the user will now be restored unless the "Prevent SSO from creating accounts" option is enabled in the school settings. If the option is disabled, the user will be taken to the inactive page.
