Ans offers integrations with other educational software tools. All the integrations are developed and maintained by Ans. For all integrations mentioned below, an additional license is required. To acquire a license and the necessary credentials to set up the integration(s), please contact the supplier of the software. Ans does not sell any software licenses from other providers.

If you want to integrate Ans with other tools, such as your own student information system, scheduling or archiving software, you can integrate them using our API.

Way of working of integrations

For almost all integrations the following principles apply:

  1. Set up at your school level
    The first step is to set up the integration at your school level. For most integrations, you have to insert configuration details, such as credentials or a secret key. This information is different for each integration and can be acquired via the software provider. For some integrations, additional configuration options can be set. In the articles for each of the integrations, the details of how to set up the integration are described.
  2. Use integration in assignments.
    As soon as the integration is set up at school level, it can be used in assignments. For some integrations, it needs to be turned on manually for the test and for other integrations, it can be used directly. Using integrations on assignment level is described in the corresponding articles.

Integrations

The integrations with educational software tools can be divided into the following categories:

  • Learning Management System integrations

  • Print to scan and educational logistic software

Learning Management System integrations

Ans offers integrations with Learning Management Systems (LMS). The integrations are built on the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) technique. Ans uses LTI version 1.3 for all these integrations. An LMS integration can be used for different purposes. You can use it to enrol your students for assignments. You can create a connection between your LMS assignment and Ans' assignment. To avoid double registration, the integration will enrol all students that access the LMS assignment. The integration can also be used to send back the grades of the students to your assignment in the LMS.

Lockdown browser software

Lockdown browser software is used to increase the security of your digital test environment. Ans provides multiple security settings. As Ans is a web application, the possibilities to secure the whole environment are limited. By making use of lockdown browser software, you can decrease the chances of fraud. The integration between Ans and the lockdown browser software will make sure that a student can only start the exam using the lockdown browser. A dependency is created which does not allow the student to take the exam without it. Additionally, these solutions can also be used for publications. Ans is integrated with the following lockdown browser software solutions:

Plagiarism detection software

To detect plagiarism in text and file submissions of your students, you can use plagiarism detection software. Integration with this type of software allows you to send students' submissions to plagiarism detection software. You can see the result from the plagiarism detection analysis in Ans after the submissions have been analysed. Ans integrates with the following plagiarism detection software providers:

Print to scan and educational logistic software

For proper handling of written assignments, Ans offers integrations with software that can help you to deal with the logistical process of printing and scanning exams and all steps in between. The exact way of working and additional services offered, such as delivery and pick-up of exams, differs per partner:

Proctoring software

Proctoring software allows you to increase the security of your assignment. The difference with lockdown browser software is that with proctoring software you can also record certain sources such as the webcam, microphone and a student's screen during the test. After the test, reviewers with the correct authorisations will have the possibility to check the recordings and report any incidents. Ans is integrated with the following proctoring software:

Text-to-speech software

For students that are having difficulty reading text, Ans offers an integration with software that can read text out loud. This applies to both text in the assignment as well as to attachments that are added to the test. For text-to-speech, we offer an integration with Readspeaker.
