The bubble sheet assignment is an assignment type that will need to be administered to students on paper. Once you have created the assignment, you will need to print the forms for participants to complete. After the assignment is completed, you can upload the forms to Ans, where the platform will automatically grade them.
Print a bubble sheet assignment
To download your bubble sheet assignment for printing, follow the steps below.
- Navigate to your assignment.
- Click on the Download button in the bottom right corner.
As the questions of a bubble sheet assignment fit on one page, downloading the bubble sheet assignment will create only 1 pdf. This pdf can be printed for all students as the students fill in their student number on the bubble sheet assignment. This student number is what makes the pages of the bubble sheet assignment unique and therefore, a unique barcode per student is not required.
Scan a bubble sheet assignment
After the exam has been taken, the exams need to be scanned before reviewing can start. Below are a few tips to scan the exams efficiently.
Before scanning
- Cut off all corners of assignments containing staples.
Scan requirements
- The scans should at least have a resolution of 300 dpi.
- The scans should be either in .PDF format or in .JPEG format, uploaded as a zip file.
- A zip should not contain more than 4000 scans at a time.
- The scans should contain at least 3 out of the 4 black squares.
Scan recommendations
- Scan in colour.
- Select the 'double input detection'-function on the scanner. This way, the scanner will not forget any pages by scanning two pages at the same time.
- Scan across the width of the assignment. This way the scanner is faster.
- Select the 'staple detection'-function on the scanner to detect any staples that have not yet been removed.
- We can recommend using a Canon imageFORMULA DR series scanner.
- To avoid potential timeout issues, we recommend limiting each zip file to 1,000 files or fewer. If you need to include more than 1,000 files, please split them into multiple zip files and upload them separately.
