As a publisher of a question bank, you can customise the settings of your question bank to your personal preferences. You can add labels, protection rules and tags for example. You can also view the Log and restore removed exercises and assignments.
To edit or view the settings of a question bank, follow the steps below.
- Click domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click folder Question banks in the menu at the top.
- Click on your question bank or use the search bar.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
From here, you can start editing settings of the assignment. The menu on the left side consist out of the following menu tabs.
The General tab will open by default. From here, you can rename your question bank. Below this option, you will also notice a dropdown menu Studies*. This menu is part of a closed beta feature that will be available in the future. It is not necessary to select a study at the settings here. It is still possible to create a question bank without selecting a study.
In the danger zone section, you can also remove your question bank. Keep in mind, if you accidentally remove a question bank, only an administrator can restore it. Removed question banks will be permanently deleted after 180 days.
To help keep exercises and assignments in your question bank organised, we recommend using labels. The labels Draft, Review needed, Revision needed and Accepted are already included. In addition, it is possible to add your own personal labels. Question bank labels are sorted in alphabetical order.
Once you copy an assignment from your question bank to a course, the label will be changed to the default label that's set in your school settings. If there is no default label present, the label will be left blank.
The labels can be used as metadata for both exercises and assignments. One label can be attached per exercise and per assignment. You can use the information in the label to cooperate with your colleagues. It is also possible to connect a protection rule to a label. A protection rule allows you to restrict certain actions if that label is connected. More information about protection rules can be found below.

Edit labels in a question bank
Editing a label will automatically update this label for both the exercises and the assignments this label is used. - Click the more_vert-icon in the bar of the label you want to edit.

Delete labels in a question bank
A label can only be deleted when it is no longer attached to any exercises and assignments within your question bank. - Click the more_vert-icon in the bar of the label you want to delete.

In the Assignment protection rules tab, you can add protection rules to question bank labels. When an assignment is given a label with the protection rules turned on, contributors are no longer allowed to change exercises in this assignment as long as the label is active. There is only one option available when adjusting or creating a assignment protection rule. With this option, it will not be possible to add and remove questions to the assignment with this label.

- Click Assignment protection rules in the menu at the left.
- Click Edit next to the label you want to add the protection rule to.
- Check the box Disable changing exercises.
- Click Save.
In the Exercise protection rules tab, you can define exercise protection rules for labels to:

In the Tags tab, you can see all the tags you have created and how many exercises include these tags. You also have the option to edit and delete tags. You can read more about using tags in your question bank here.
The Log will show the date and time of adjustments to the question bank. For example, when a contributor was added or removed or a question bank assignment was created and/or removed. Please note, you will only see this version of the question bank log if the administrators of your school have disabled the beta feature logs. If this beta feature is enabled, you will see the question bank log in beta.
In the Removed exercises tab, you can view the exercises that were removed and the date on which they were removed. If necessary, you can also restore an exercise by clicking Restore.
In the Removed assignments tab, you can view question bank assignments that were removed and the date on which they were removed. If necessary, you can also restore a question bank assignment by clicking Restore.
