In the review options for a school, you can set default review options that apply to all created assignments. If you change anything to the review options, it only applies to newly created assignments or questions. All assignments that were created before making the change, are not affected.
To check or update the review options for a school, follow the steps below.
- Click the School name in the menu on the left.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- Click Review options in the menu on the left.
- If changes are made, they are applied immediately. For all text fields, you need to click Update to save your changes.
This article contains three different parts, in line with the menu in Ans:
- Automatic scoring
- Error Carry Forward
- Review period
- Mark calculation
Automatic scoring
If automatic scoring is enabled, automatic scoring will be applied to all closed-ended questions to which automatic scoring is applicable. As mentioned above, automatic scoring is only applied to questions created from the moment this option is enabled. If it is disabled at a later moment, the questions to which automatic scoring was applied can manually be changed back to questions without automatic scoring.
Error Carry Forward
If Error Carry Forward is enabled, this will allow students to earn points for correct calculations based on their previous answers, even if those answers were incorrect. This ensures students are rewarded for following the correct method. This applies to 'Numerical questions'. You can find more information in the article about this question type.
Review period
In the review options of your school settings, you can add a suggested number of working days in which instructors and reviewers are expected to grade their summative digital tests. In the recent activity overview, the suggested due date for reviewing the digital test is shown. The suggested date starts counting as soon as the first assignment is handed in. If the suggested review period has passed, the icon will appear red. Once the test has been fully graded, the icon will disappear. The review period provides visual advice in the overview of assignments within a course. Instructors and reviewers can still grade after the suggested review period.
The suggestion is only applicable to summative tests. To set an assignment to summative, you can follow the steps below:
- Navigate to your assignment.
- Click settings Settings in the menu at the top.
- In the General settings choose Summative under Type.
Mark calculation
The mark calculation default can be set in the review options menu. The only mark calculation type that can be chosen here is the formula. The two other options, Table and None, are not available. Either of those mark calculation types can only be applied per assignment in the assignment settings. All information on the mark calculation options for the formula can be found in the mark calculation article. As mentioned above, all changes made to the mark calculation are applicable for all assignments created after changing these settings.
The changes are applicable for both assignments created in question banks and courses. Courses are directly related to a school. Question banks are not related to a school but to an individual user. Ans checks to which school the user that created the question bank belongs. The school settings of the owner of the question bank are used for each question bank assignment that is created within the question bank.
