As of 16 August 2026, it will no longer be possible to enable the Ouriginal integration at school or assignment level. This is aligned with Ouriginal’s announced deprecation date of 1 September 2026, due to the discontinuation of their service following the acquisition by Turnitin.
What does this mean?
From 16 August 2026 onwards:
- It will no longer be possible to enable new Ouriginal integrations in Ans at a school or assignment level.
- Plagiarism and similarity results already available in Ans will remain visible in the interface. However, links and connections to Ouriginal are expected to stop working after 1 September 2026, as the external service is being phased out.
- After 1 January 2027, Ans will remove all remaining Ouriginal integrations. After this date, all remaining Ouriginal plagiarism information will be removed from Ans.
Why are we making this change?
This change is required because the Ouriginal service is being discontinued following its acquisition by Turnitin. To ensure continued access to plagiarism and similarity checking functionality, customers are encouraged to transition to alternative supported services.

PS. Ouriginal initially announced the first deprecation for 30 June 2026. Ouriginal has since extended this to 1 September 2026. Following this, we have adjusted the deprecation of the Ouriginal integration in Ans to 16 August 2026.
