With the April 26, 2026 release, the option to grade by starting from the maximum number of points (i.e. disabling “start with zero points”) will receive a “Deprecated” badge. This grading method is being phased out and will be fully discontinued on September 1, 2026, as announced previously.
What’s changing?
- As of April 26, 2026, the “start with zero points” disabled option will display a “Deprecated” badge.
- As of June 21, 2026, this option will no longer be available for new questions.
- Existing questions using this grading method will remain functional until September 1, 2026.
- After September 1, 2026, grading will no longer support starting from maximum points; all grading will begin from 0 points.
What does this mean?
- Existing questions configured to subtract from maximum points will continue to work during the transition period.
- Already graded answers will remain unchanged.
- If grading settings are updated for an existing question, the calculation will switch to the new system (starting from 0 points).
- After September 1, 2026, all questions will use the standard grading approach starting from 0 points.
Why are we making this change?
Currently, questions can be graded either by starting from zero points and adding points, or by starting from the maximum points and subtracting based on selected criteria. Due to limited usage and the added complexity in question settings, the latter option will be removed.
