With the April 26, 2026 release, the cover file upload field on written assignment cover pages will have a “Deprecated” badge. The ability to upload a custom cover file is being phased out and will remain available until September 1, 2026.
Currently, all written assignments include the option to upload a file to add a custom cover page. This functionality will be phased out to simplify the written assignment setup and reduce reliance on custom files.
What’s changing?
- As of April 26, 2026, the cover file upload field will show a “Deprecated” badge.
- The field remains available for written assignments that already have a custom cover file.
- For written assignments without a custom cover file, the upload option is available only until September 1, 2026. After this date, it will no longer be possible to upload a custom cover file.
What does this mean?
- Written assignments that already include a custom cover file will continue to display and support that file.
- Users can still view and remove previously uploaded cover files.
- Once removed, a custom cover file cannot be re-uploaded after September 1, 2026.
- Written assignments created after September 1, 2026, and those without an existing custom cover will transition to the default cover setup on September 1, 2026.
Why are we making this change?
This change helps streamline the written assignments creation process and ensures a more consistent experience across assignments. By phasing out this functionality, we reduce complexity in the cover page configuration while maintaining support for existing written assignments during the transition period.
