We will be deprecating the Open question with final answer question type in written assignments.
This question type is primarily used when a correct final answer awards full points and instructors do not need to review the reasoning or calculations. Due to the limited use of this question type and to simplify the question setup while reducing overlap in functionality, it will be removed. In most cases, the same outcome can be achieved by using a regular open question in combination with the appropriate grading method. Additionally, if predefined or fixed text is required within an exercise, this can be implemented using content blocks.
What does this mean?
- It will no longer be possible to create new questions using the Open question with final answer type as of 21st of June 2026.
- Existing questions of this type will remain available and functional in current assignments and question banks.
- Previously graded submissions will remain unchanged.
Why are we making this change?
This change allows us to streamline the available question types while maintaining the same grading flexibility through existing alternatives.
