The STEP integration can be enabled in a digital test to block all applications on a student's computer that are not needed in order to take the test. You can find out more about what STEP is and how it can be configured for your school in this article. Once the STEP integration has been configured on school level, you can enabled it for your digital test.
There are two possibilities when using STEP. The first is to use the config key that has been set on school level. Ans automatically uses this config key. This is mostly used for institutions that make use of the STEP sticks. As changing the config key for STEP sticks would require a new installation on the sticks, most schools use one config key for all assignments. If your school is making use of this possibility, you will not have to add any test specific config keys.
If you would like to change the config key for your test, for example if you are making use of a different STEP product, you can fill these at the settings of your digital. As shown in the screenshot below, adding one or more test specific config key will overwrite the school config key. If you remove the test specific config key later on, the school config key that is configured at that time will be used.
To enable the STEP integration and to configure test specific config keys, follow the steps below.

- Click Enable next to STEP stick.
- If applicable, fill in the config key and click on Save
