In the previous step you learnt how to add contributors to your question bank. In this step you will learn how to add exercises to your question bank.
Exercises can be added to question banks in different ways. An exercise can be imported into a question bank or a new exercise can be created from within the question bank.
Import exercises
If exercises have been created externally or found in external question banks, they can be imported into your question bank. The file format needs to be QTI 2.1 (.zip) or .qml. There is also an option for multiple choice questions and order questions to be imported as a CSV, however this option first needs to be enabled by an administrator,.
To import an exercise into a question bank, click extension Exercises in the menu at the top. (This page will also open by default after creating or clicking on your question bank). Click the drop down menu Import and select your file type.
After you have selected the file type, a dialogue box will open. If you already have a file ready, click Browse for a file and select the file, or drag and drop the file into the dialogue box.
If you need you can also click Download template or create a ZIP-file in QML or QTI standard. When importing a file, you will notice the Successfully scheduled pop up appear in the bottom left corner. Click on view, to check the log and see if all questions have been imported successfully.
New exercises
To create a new exercise, click the button New exercise. A dialogue box will open where you can fill in the name of your exercise and click Save. A new page will open on extension Question banks exercise. From here, you can edit your exercise. This will be explained further in step 4.
