A group is a way for you to divide up the students in your course. Groups can be created for example when a group of students require extra time for a test, when you need to divide up the grading to distribute to different reviewers or when students need to be broken into groups for group assignments. The functionality of groups looks a lot like the classes functionality. The biggest difference is classes are defined school-wide and groups are defined on course level.
Within Ans, you can use groups with different purposes, depending on your assignment type. Below you can find the different ways the groups can be used divided per assignment.
-
Digital test (individual)
Groups can be used to allocate different time slots. For example, students with time extension are imported in a different group and have additional time.
-
Digital test (group)
The test can be made in groups. The members of the group can all individually go to the test. When one group member saves answers, the others will see these answers when starting the test. They can also alter the answers. When the deadline passes, the answers that are set at that moment are the definitive answers that will be checked and graded.
-
Hand-in assignment
Every member of a group can hand in work for the whole group. When a file is uploaded, other group members can see the files and add files or delete the file while it is not submitted. After submission, all group members can see the files and remove the submission. After removing the submission, a new submission can be done by all group members.
