Synchronise exercises in a question bank

Whether you have created and saved an assignment, created an exercise in your question bank or copied an assignment in your course, with each of these actions there will be a link between the exercises in your assignment and the question bank. This means that when you edit something in this exercise, either in the question bank or assignment, you will have the option of synchronising this change between the two. This will allow you constantly improve the exercises in your question bank, without losing the connection with your already planned assignment. 

There are two ways this can be done. The first one is to adjust the exercise in your assignment and from here on send this new version to your question bank. You can also do it the other way around, where the exercise gets adjusted in the question bank and then you can get this new version of the exercise from within your assignment. Both options are explained below. 

Send version to question bank

When changing a copied exercise from question bank, the button New version available appears at the top of the exercise within the assignment. You then have the option to send this new version to the question bank. The steps below can be followed to perform this action. 

  1. Click the domain School name in the menu on the left.
  2. Click on label_important Courses in the menu at the top.
  3. Click on your course or use the search bar.
  4. By default, the page will open on the assignment Assignment tab.
  5. Click on your assignment or use the search bar.
  6. Scroll down to the exercise you want to synchronise. 
  7. Click the dropdown menu New version available and choose Send version to question bank. 
  8. Click Confirm.

The new version will now be available in your question bank. You then also have the option to synchronise this new version with other assignments. You can do this by following the steps in the following section. 

Get version from question bank

When you edit an exercise in your question bank, you have the option to use this new version of the exercise in your assignment. You can do this by following the steps below. 

    1. Click the domain School name in the menu on the left.
    2. Click on label_important Courses in the menu at the top.
    3. Click on your course or use the search bar.
    4. By default, the page will open on the assignment Assignment tab.
    5. Click on your assignment or use the search bar.
    6. Scroll down to the exercise you want to synchronise. 
    7. Click the dropdown menu New version available and choose Get version from question bank. 
    8. Click Confirm.
error_outline If changes are made in the original exercise in the question bank and these are not yet synchronised to the copied version, these changes will be lost. In other words: the exercise in the question bank will be equal to this exercise.
