Within an assignment, you can either create a new exercise or add an already existing exercise from the question bank. Below you can read more on each option.
Create a new exercise
To create a new exercise, follow the steps below.
- Click domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click label_important Courses in the menu at the top.
- Select your course or use the search bar.
- Select your assignment or use the search bar.
- Click New exercise.
- Fill in the exercise name and click Save.
You can now start adding a description and/or question(s) to your newly created exercise. If you end up wanting to use the exercise in multiple assignments, you can either copy it directly from this assignment every time or you can decide to store it in a question bank. With the last option, you get the benefit of being able to reuse the exercise in multiple assignments, but also to track the insights for each exercise over the course of multiple assignments/schoolyears by creating a link. You can also adjust the exercise in one place, for instance, based on the data gathered from the insights, and synchronise it over the different assignments with 1 click.
Add exercises from a question bank
You will first need to have added exercise(s) to your question bank.
To add an exercise from a question bank, follow the steps below.
- Click domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click label_important Courses in the menu at the top.
- Select your course or use the search bar.
- Select your assignment or use the search bar.
- Click Add exercises.
- Click the question bank that contains the exercises you want to add and click Next.
- Select the exercises you want to add and click Add.
When exercises are added from the question bank, the following warning message may show up:
- Duplicates
If an exercise is accidentally added to an assignment multiple times, you will receive a warning message.
When exercises are added to an assignment and the exercise is updated in the question bank or in the assignment, the following warning message appears.
- New version available
When an exercise is added from the question bank to an assignment, there is a link between the exercise in the question bank and the exercise in the assignment. When a question within the question bank has been modified or updated and the latest version has not yet been copied over to the assignment, you will see the warning New version available. This works the other way around as well. If you modify or update the exercise in the assignment you will also see the New version available warning. After clicking on this warning, you can choose to Get version from question bank or Send version to question bank.
You can read more on the synchronisation of the exercises between courses and question banks here.
