In this step, you will learn how to adjust the test settings.
In the previous step, you learnt how to add a grading scheme. After adding a grading scheme, you are now ready to adjust the settings for your test. You can adjust the test settings by first clicking on the
settings Settings tab.
Attachments
Click on Attachments in the menu on the left.
You have the option to add attachments to your assignment for students to view while taking the test. By default an attachment is not visible to a student. To make it visible during the test you should change the visibility from hidden to visible.
Accessibility
Click on Accessibility in the menu on the left.
Access
- Multiple attempts
For a practice test, you may want to allow your students to take the test multiple times. You can allow multiple attempts by first enabling the option and then filling in the number of attempts the students can make. Confirm by clicking Save. - Use password
If you prefer your students to fill in a password to access the test, you can enable this option. When you click on the Use password box, a random password will automatically be generated for you. You can also delete this password and create your own. Confirm the password by clicking Save. -
Restricted access to other pages
If you don't want to allow your students the possibility to leave the current test to look at other assignments, such as a previous practice test, you can enable this option to restrict access. Once the students have started the test, they are not able to leave the assignment until they've submitted their result. -
Restrict assignment access locations
If you require your students to take an exam from a specified location, such as an examination hall at your school, you can enable this option and select one or multiple locations. If you would like to add more locations contact your administrator or find out more information here.
Utilities
- Digital notes
This allows students to make digital notes while taking the exam. Instructors will not be able view the notes the student made. - Spellchecker
If Spellchecker is enabled students will be able to see red lines underneath spelling errors. This option uses the built-in spellchecker of the browser. This is not a spellchecker provided by Ans. We recommend to only enable Spellchecker if spelling is not a criterion for the test. - Use calculator
Allow students to use the built-in calculator. You can select the basic or scientific calculator. - Feedback
Allow students to receive feedback during the test. Student can see right away if they have answered correctly. This only works for automatically scored questions, such as multiple choice and order questions.
Navigation
- One way navigation
Once a student switches to the next exercise, they will not able to return to previous exercise. They are only able to navigate freely between the questions of an exercise. - Cannot reopen question groups
Students cannot reopen a question group after closing. This behaves in the same way as one way navigation unless you're putting multiple questions in one question group. For more details please read this article.
