error_outline Your ability to perform these actions depends on the privilege settings of your school.
Once you have created an exercise in your question bank, there are different actions you can take with this exercise. There's the option edit your exercise, but you can also copy, remove and restore an exercise. Below you can find the different actions you can take.
Edit an exercise
After the first time you have created (and edited) your exercise, you always have the option to return to the editing screen of your question bank exercise. Follow the steps below to start editing the exercise.
- Click domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click folder Question banks in the menu at the top.
- Click on your question bank or use the search bar in the Question bank-section.
- By default, the page will open on the extension Exercises tab.
- Click on the exercise you want to edit by clicking the blue number.
From here, you can add a label, add tags, add relations and add a new description and question to your exercise. If this exercise is used in an assignment in a course, it is linked. This means that when you edit the exercise, both in the question bank and in the assignment, Ans will recognise there's a new version. You will be given the option to synchronise the exercises when this happens. For more information on this, you can read this article.
Copy an exercise
The copy-functionality makes it possible to copy your exercise to both another question bank as to the same question bank. The first possibility allows you to share the exercise with members of another question bank. By copying the exercise, for instance, they will be able to use the exercise in their own assignment without having access to the first question bank. The second possibility allows you to create an exact copy of the exercise in your question bank. This option can be used, for instance, when you want to create a slightly different version of the exercise but keep most information the same. Follow the steps below to copy your exercise.
- Click domain School name in the menu on the left.
- Click folder Question banks in the menu at the top.
- Click on your question bank or use the search bar in the Question bank-section.
- By default, the page will open on the extension Exercises tab.
- Check the box next to the exercise you want to copy.
- Click the dropdown menu More and click Copy.
- Select the question bank you want to copy the exercise to. You can also select the same question bank as the exercise is in.
- Click Save.
Once you have saved it, you will notice a pop-up appear with the message 'Exercises are being copied. This could take a moment.' When the action has finished, you will see the copied exercise when you refresh the page. The exercise will always be added with the term '(copy)' being added at the end, which is how you can distinguish the copied version. You can then choose to change the name through the settings in the question bank exercise.
A copied question bank exercise is always a new version of the exercise, which means it is not linked to the original exercise and/or any linked assignment. This means that edits to this exercise won't show up as new versions in the original exercise.
The following information will be copied:
- Name of the exercise
- Description(s)
- Question(s)
- Grading scheme
- Tags
- Objective(s) (a new domain and/or objective will be created if this is not yet present)
